Bears in Alaska tend to be where the people are.
Bears in the lower 48 tend to be where the people are not.
I have been hiking twice in Glacier National Park in the past three years. I have seen grizzlies up close on both occasions, not by choice. They tended to ignore us although none were females with cubs.
That’s about right.
