Ukraine would have got a decent deal if they started to negotiate early last year.

They did in March 2022 when Russian forces were near Kiev. They had a deal with the Russians for an armistice while revised borders were formalized, but NATO intervened and convinced Zelensky he could chase the Russians out of Ukraine with Western help.

The neocons led Zelensky down the Primrose Path to get the money and weapons flowing. They hoped crushing Russia in Ukraine would shatter the Putin regime and take Russia off the board.

Both Zelensky and NATO chose poorly.

Now, they’ll switch to the “rebuilding” phase of grift.

I think this leak is also cover for Zelensky to save his own life by saying he had no choice but to negotiate as the US and Germany pulled their weapons. Zelensky will have to give up those two primarily Russian eastern provinces at a minimum, probably a buffer and perhaps Crimea. No doubt Germany will resume importing Russian gas after folks have forgotten the conflict a few months after the truce. On the bright side, there will still be a Ukraine, albeit a bit slimmer after the turkey is carved up.

Taiwan is depending on a Paper Tiger to defend them.

A Paper Tiger (Paper Polecat, actually) which is dependent on China for its military supply chain.

https://dailycaller.com/2023/06/19/raytheon-china-greg-hayes-decoupling/

Taiwan needs to make its best deal, and forget about US protection.

Immature NeoCons think that recognizing reality is defeatism or Xi worship.

No, it is recognizing reality of an industrially and militarily decayed USA.

How’s it feel serving the interests of a man who worships Stalin? I imagine you worship Stalin too?

I can't divulge the details other than to say our support of Ukraine has been taxing our ordnance stockpiles, to the point where our own military readiness is at risk.

Believe it or not, we (U.S.A.) does not have an unlimited supply of munitions to hand out. There are serious supply chain issues at hand. Advanced munitions have various widgets inside of them that need to be procured and the companies building these widgets are building all they can.

I have been privy to conversations that have absolutely opened my eyes to many of the hurdles we are facing in regards to our own military readiness as we've given a blank check to Ukraine.

We're telling Zelensky to wrap it up simply because we can't continue to support his efforts unless we mobilize to a total war footing.

And right now, Americans can't buy homes. They can't buy cars. They can barely buy groceries. The bill has come due and we simply can't continue writing half trillion dollar checks to the rest of the world.

That was obviously the case when they started sending cluster munitions and DU shells.

Inventories had to be rock bottom for them to do that.

The lack of industrial capacity has been a matter of public record for a long time.

I thought that critical shell production equipment would have been mothballed.

Instead, they sold it for scrap.

Have you priced 7.62 NATO lately? Damn near $1/round! That's because we're sending it all to Ukraine!

And this is dumb ammo. Never mind the HIMARS we're sending them! Every HIMAR has some widget inside of them built in some warehouse in flyover America that either doesn't have the employees they need to make them or can't get a reliable supply chain of parts.

It's bad.

And 7.62 NATO actually has some surge capacity in the USA because of production for private gun owners.

ATACM production is 500 PER YEAR and is scheduled to increase, but can they do it ?

Even if they give the entire historic production of ~4000, it would hardly be militarily significant.

Equivalent to four thousand 500-1000lb bombs.

ATACM production is 500 PER YEAR and is scheduled to increase, but can they do it ?

And that's the issue we're running in to. The various widgets that go inside these weapons (maybe a simple actuating servo or a circuit board), widgets built in various warehouses in flyover USA by various salt-of-the-earth middle class Americans who drive Kias, deep fry turkeys on Thanksgiving, and live in modest suburban homes, are coming up against supply chain issues for the various widgets that they need to build their widgets.

Somewhere out there in flyover country is a middle-aged woman. She has a flower tattoo on her ankle. Her husband is overweight and has a goatee. He watches football on Sunday. The have a "thin blue line" flag hanging in their garage and a "FJB" bumper sticker on their car. We know these people. They're our friends and neighbors. She might post here!

And she works for the widget company in Shitsville, Kansas, making widgets for munitions. And they're making all they can but they can't make any more because the company in Indonesia the presses the circuit board they use is still following COVID regulations.

The Department of Defense is saying, "We need 250 of these a month!" And she's telling them, "We can give you 20. We can't give you any more. We don't have the supplies"

It’s defence, ... it’s everything.

Late model vehicle parts with all sorts of stockout and backorders, even for high volume parts.

And the vintage stuff, you can get the old flat tappet lifters and cams, but they are now unreliable junk with multiple failure modes due to manufacturing and material problems, as well as the oils.

Supply chain issues for advanced parts are an absolute catastrophe right not. Zeepers have no idea.

Sure, I can order some crappy kitchen blender from Amazon and it'll be here tomorrow.

But circuit boards and servos for advanced munitions? 7.62 NATO rounds? Civilians have no idea of the backlogs we're dealing with.
