Stoops just won the XFL Championship, for what it’s worth. IIRC he coached OU in their bowl game after Lincoln Riley left.
DIL is an alum of Oklahoma State. She hates Stoops with a passion, so that’s why I’m not a fan of his. She hates the Sooners like I hate the Criminoles. I could be convinced that Stoops is the right guy, but I’d like to consider others. Not that I have ANY say in the matter.

That’s true. I have forgotten that.
My mom sent me a commemorative bottle of Coke with a Gator on it from that Natty. I kept that bottle for a LONG LONG time. I actually just threw it out a few years ago. One of those things you just don’t really need, but they bring back great memories. I have too much stuff like that.

Bob Stoops is enjoying life now, having it both ways. Being retired, wealthy, married to Mrs. Stoops and kindacoachin’ in the XFL or whatever. That’s about all the coaching he’s gonna do from here on out, one would think. Too much other fun stuff to do.
One thinks it might be safe tell your DIL that Stoops doesn’t hate her. :)
A lot more money out there to be had for head coaches than when Stoops left.
Stoops retired well, and is now pushing 60 and is invested in all kindsa stuff - restaurants, his own brand of tequila of all things (he's a good Catholic boy you know, so no problem) ad hoc TV gigs now and then, coaching in the XFL just to scratch that itch, and traveling with Mrs. Stoops. One would assume some family time with his mom who is still with us in Youngstown, and also presumably keeping an eye on someone I won't name and helping him (oops) keep his nose clean, if you know what I mean.
He had a good run at OU and now life goes on for him and he's living it well.
At least that's what one has heard.
I don’t think firing him really results in a buyout per se. He signed a $100 million contract and the money is guaranteed. Just pay him $10 million every year until the term is up. Doesn’t matter if he is coaching or is he is fishing.

Mike Yurcich (PSU OC) was fired today. This will likely send Drew Allar to the portal, as Yurcich had recruited him since he was 14. I don’t know if that’s good or bad at this point.
You want Urbs back? Many PSU fans want him. A&M fans obviously as well.
Urban loved JVP and was mentioned twice as potential PSU coach in the past. He didn’t like the way the U treated Joe (who can blame him). Hopefully he’s over it.
Problem is that PSU isn’t serious about anything except sciences and grants (and wrestling). If they’re serious about losing less than 2 games/year playing football, they should cut CJF loose and hire Urban before the recruiting deadline.
But again, they aren’t serious.
