In Von Braun’s 1953 book “Mars Project,” he referenced a person titled: the “Elon” that would bring humans to Mars.

I guess I ended up conflating two different things Musk is quoted as having said . . . Turns out I was just passing along someone else’s mistake . . . oh well.

Why would I want a machine try and write my thoughts? Back in the day, my kids (none conservative) asked why I liked to read Thomas Sowell so much. I replied, “Because he agrees with me - after I have read what he has written, of course!

Heinlein wrote “Starship Troopers”, and the left freaked out and called him a fascist, because of it.
Then he wrote “Stranger in a Strange Land”, and the right freaked out and called him a communist, because of it.

As a huge fan of classic sci-fi, I too caught this immediately, as anyone familiar with the genre would.
That said, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is one of my very favorite books. I used to read aloud from that book to my kids when they were young.
Opening lines:
"Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."
Also this from
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe “In the beginning the Universe was created.
This had made many people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Freeper propensity… nice framing. Yes, I completely understood that this could just be a marketing strategy. Sorry to disappoint you.
