The Kremlin website. It’s usually a straight source of what Putin’s said/written.
For example, it provides a comprehensive record of every interaction between Zelenskyy and Putin. Mostly positive, until they stopped.
Interactions between them stopped after Zelenskyy responded critically to the On Unity article, and after Medvechuk was arrested.
Kremlin.ru and the Yeltsin Library site, and the DNR ombudsman site, all keep honest records. It’s how we know when claims made by Russia are “vranyo”.
Russian spokespeople claim “without evidence” something that even their own official records on their own official websites demonstrate to be untrue. Those sites aren’t “corrected” or taken down.
So it’s vranyo. When Russia lies intentionally, and it knows it is repeating a lie, and it even gives us access to sites that show that it’s lying, it’s expecting us to SHOW WEAKNESS by just “nodding and taking notes” instead of committing a massive diplomatic fail by calling the liar out.
The bit I don’t get is how anybody in the West actually falls for it - in some cases so hard that they think Russia is telling the truth.
When the Duma speaker responded to a suggestion that Russia should take back Alaska given it’s got some Russians in it and historically it was russian, he didn’t say it was a mad idea, he said “we don’t interfere in other countries” or words to that effect. Naturally the response was laughter and applause. They all know it’s completely untrue.
Vranyo is a joke to the Russian political class.
How many more days are you going to beat this dead horse?
Moving naval assets out of Sevastopol was a rational decision. Most of the Black Sea Fleet are primarily used as missile launchers and the relocation doesn’t change their ability to do that. It reduces high value military targets for NATOUKROPS , which is restricted from attacking into the RF.
Russia avoids escalating into downing the NATO aircraft and drones directing attacks on Crimea at the cost of a limited redeployment The Black Sea fleet will continue supporting SMO and indeed is continuing both patrols and missile launches from its rear bases.
Russia’s alternative option was to clear the airspace within a couple hundred km of Crimea of NATO air, including unmanned drones…..and risking major escalation….the US has acted as if unmanned drones are nearly the same trigger as manned ISR aircraft…. Russia could forcibly defend from the targeting …but at a cost Putin is not willing to take.
By using strategic depth and redeploying Russian missile carriers and ordnance storage into Novo and Feodosia, Nato aircraft will now need to come closer to Crimea for targets. This move….hopefully, less likely.
Yet again, the most powerful man in the world whose decisions affect the escalation of this conflict to WW3 ……is Vladimir Putin.
You can’t argue with the Putin fans. All they have is insults.
Putin probably ordered a retreat, because Putin knew that HAMAS and Iran were prepared to attack Israel.
