West said Thursday he would seek the presidency as an independent candidate,
choosing to forgo a run with the Green Party. The decision complicates his ability to get on the ballot—if he had won the Green nomination, it would have ensured ballot access in nearly 20 states with the potential for close to all 50 states. That's too bad. He may not even get on the ballot in many states.
Republicans should make sure they sign his ballot petitions in Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, and Pennsylvania - at the very least, make sure he is on those ballots. Secondary effort once those are secured - get him on the ballots in New Hampshire, Maine, Virginia, Minnesota, Nevada, and New Mexico.
