German Communists ended up in concentration camps along the the Social Democrats.(SDP).
Sorry, but not all of them. There were plenty of them who just switched their allegiance. Whole bataillons of the Red Front Fighter League switched their allegiance to the SA.
These were sometimes nicknamed “Frikadellen bataillons” - pale red inside, tan outside.
There even was a secret joke about it: “Why was the summer of’33 the sunniest summer on record? Because so many Reds suddenly turned Tan”
