Liberty Safe was sold to Monomoy Capital Partners in 2021, a liberal East Coast investment firm. I pulled the FEC reports on the company and found approximately $400,000 over the last 10 cycles of max donations to Democrats like:
Raphael Warnock in GA
John Fetterman in PA
Mandela Barnes in WI
Mark Kelly in AZ
Liberty Safe’s current CEO, Justin Hillenbrand, was a founding partner of Monomoy and donated $4,600 to Obama for America.
And we’re supposed to be surprised they betrayed their customers to the FBI as quickly as humanly possible?
Boycott Liberty Safe.
I also do some welding.
Would love to see a photo of the secure fix for the locks.
Thanks for the link.. Best summary of the facts I have read.
All safe companies maintain a data base of combinations that links up to the safes serial number.
That way if someone looses or forgets their combination they can recover it. Its also handy if someone dies and did not pass on the combination.
It takes a written, notarized letter establishing ownership along with about $100.00.
My question is what were the feds searching for in the first place.
Had Liberty kept up with current events, they would have seen red flags everywhere when the FBgestapo came calling.
“Which is irrelevant to the issue at hand. Yes, they will break into it. That doesn’t excuse Liberty from acquiescing on a search warrant for someone else’s property.”
Actually, Liberty didn’t even receive a subpoena for the combo. They just handed it over to the Feds like a good lapdog.
If my home is protected by a digital lock on the front door, does Fedgov have the right to make the lock maker open it? Does Fedgov have the right to activate the microphone on my cell phone, or the camera on my private computer? If my car has OnStar, can Fedgov access it to listen in on me or disable its engine?
The answer to all should be NO, not without the owner's permission.
I'm afraid that even this misses the "bigger issue." Why are you on about whether or not the feds have the "right" to do something? The bigger issue, it seems to me, is whether the feds have the power to do something.
When all is said and done, what is the purpose of Amendment II anyway? The vindication of some abstract "right" or something a bit more concrete? When all is said and done, what are people prepared actually to do, hmm?
I made the “decoy” suggestion elsewhere already. Let the FBI spend their time breaking into empty safes.
Hide your important stuff elsewhere. You can get quite creative.
I am glad to know this happened. Once you find out what the Gestapo is doing, you can better plan your defense.
You cannot rely on crooked judges or the U.S. Constitution. We are far beyond that.
You are now entirely in charge of your own “rights.”
That does it for me. No Liberty safe ever. Quit patronizing these communist businesses/entities.
That isn’t the point.
bttt
It’s been called that over and over on Twitter. They are being ripped apart on their Twitter page.
Conservatives need to stop falling for these companies that use patriotism as a main selling point. It’s just a schtick for most of them.
DING! DING! DING!
WE HAVE A WINNER!!
Having a search warrant on Person A does not require Business B to do a dang thing! PERIOD! Liberty Safe MAY HAVE HELPED the FBI to violate this man’s 4th Amendment Rights!
Two things: 1) Unless that warrant says Business B MUST provide XYZ, that warrant is 100% as useful to Business B as USED toilet paper! 2) Unless that warrant said EXACTLY what was inside the safe that pertains to his Jan 6 involvement, then again, it doesn’t matter even if the warrant was directing Business B to comply...general warrants are ILLEGAL and should be fought tooth and nail!
They didn’t even need to. F-Troop only had a warrant to search the safe. That means only that. It does not compel the manufacturer to help them get into it. They can bring blowtorches, power tools, Vinnie the safecracker... whatever. But the FBI cannot walk into Liberty and say we have a warrant for the house down the street, so we need you to do some work for us to help open it.
But Liberty could have told them to show up with a court order or warrant for Liberty compelling them to perform an act.
That's pure BU££$}{!T I would NEVER purchase a safe of any kind if the company wanted Me to give them MY combination !!! WTF is the point of having a safe if You don't control who has the combination.
And the fedscum can KMA.
“If they didn’t have the combo, they’d just break into it.”
Yeah? So? Then at least F-Troop has to spend money, get dirty, wait, etc.
By your logic the victim might as well remove their own panties because the attacker will tear them off anyway.
Liberty had zero legal responibility to assist them.
I think the safe owner has a tort cause against Liberty. They gave out the combination without a court order or warrant.
Perhaps the owners of the company should get rid of the company name. It doesn’t apply to them. I hope people dump them.
