26 Aug: UNBELIEVABLE! Russians SINK THEIR OWN SHIPS Desperately | Ukraine War Update
The war between Ukraine and Russia has focused on the Crimean peninsula for about a week.
The Ukrainians have carried out mind-blowing attacks, amphibious landings and missile strikes on the peninsula in the past few days.
First of all, the Russian air defense S-400s in Sevastopol were destroyed by Neptune missiles. This was a first in the history of the Ukrainian war. With these attacks, Crimea remained highly vulnerable to drones. In addition, after this offensive operation, a large number of Russian bastion missiles were also destroyed.
Later, the Ukrainian navy was not content with this and carried out the first amphibious landing operation near Crimea ‘s Cape Tarkhankut at midnight. During this operation, Ukrainian sailors destroyed 30 Russian soldiers and 4 speedboats. It was also claimed that the radar stations of the Russians were damaged during the Ukrainian landing operation. While Russia continued to be shaken by the attacks that took place one after the other, Ukraine did not break its determination and stated that the attacks against Crimea would continue.
When we look at the front line today, we can clearly see that the offensive plans of Kiev continue both in southern Ukraine and in the Crimea. Russia ‘s biggest concern is the possibility of Ukrainians re-targeting the Kerch Bridge, which is currently still under repair. If you remember, the last time the Ukrainians attacked this bridge with S-200 missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The bridge is reportedly currently closed to civilian traffic and military shipments. Moscow, on the other hand, is aware that further damage to the bridge could create an atmosphere of chaos in Crimea. That’s why Russia is trying to deploy any defense to the cities of Crimea and the Kerch Bridge amid a series of audacious Ukrainian naval drone and missile strikes in the region that have previously damaged major warships. But nowadays the tactics used by Russia in this regard are quite surprising and meaningless.
Most recently, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Russia sank its own ferries in the Kerch Strait in order to create a barrier to protect a vital bridge from sea-drone attacks. It turned out that the Russians are currently preparing to sink at least six ferries in the strait to protect the Kerch Bridge, which connects Crimea with the Russian mainland.
Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia had already sunk the first ship and continues to work on sinking the second.
The purpose of this tragicomic act was to install boom barriers between flooded ferries to eventually create a line of defense in Russia’s Crimean peninsula. Similar to anti-torpedo nets, boom defenses are physical barriers or nets that surround potential targets at sea or cross the mouth of a harbor or strait to protect against drones. These defense systems have been in use since World War II.
However, Stephen Wright, a drone technology developer, said in a statement on this subject that the new tactic would not be useful for Russia, at least against drone attacks.
According to the drone manufacturer, these blockships are useful against a different type of attack, perhaps a hijacked large ship crashing into a bridge, or even manned submarines, but are not as effective against a weapon as small and agile as visible naval drones.
Even though the Russians are trying to prevent the naval drones targeting Crimea and Kerch to some extent, it is also necessary to consider that the Ukrainian army has a western missile stockpile. The Russians should also take a defensive measure against these missiles. But at the moment, the losses of the Russian army in the field of air defense systems prevent these measures from being taken.
Since the beginning of the war, the Russian army has lost more than 20 S-300 and 4 S-400 defense systems. Such systems were often deployed on Ukraine ‘s southern front lines and on the Crimean peninsula. In addition to these systems, the Russians also lost a large number of radar stations and intelligence equipment on the southern fronts and in the Crimea.
In other words, the strategy followed by Ukraine was completely focused on net gains. Before liberating Crimea, Kiev wants to put its scenarios on much more solid foundations. For this, the Ukrainian forces are destroying their air defense systems so that the Russians cannot respond to the attacks.
In addition to the air strikes, the Ukrainians are also making plans to attack the Crimea by land. For these actions, one of the most important centers is the Armyansk settlement between Ukraine and Crimea.
Ukraine just keeps getting better at fighting to win
I pray every day that Russia prevails!
Sinking their own ships is a sign the Ruzzians are getting desperate. They know the end is near!
