Because I’ve seen it in my own family. Slightly conservative kid at 18 goes to college comes out a liberal at 21.
I shouldn’t complain too much …I could have experienced what happened to my wife’s side. Her nephew went to a college and after graduating about a year later came out a lesbian. Yeahhh…I didn’t mix my terms. He skipped the whole Bi—turned gay—turned trans—became a lesbian. No no, One day he just curled his hair and wore a little lip gloss and said he was a lesbian.

In the 2020 election, the voting areas that went to Biden were the college towns of Iowa City and Ames. The rest of the state went to Trump.
The longer young people stay in college, the more leftist they become. A community college graduate is generally much more conservative than a phd.
