Did you actually read my post? We’re not talking about 13 and 14 year old boys. The much-discussed USWNT team scrimmage against a boys academy team was against 15 and 16 year old boys who were elite athletes in their sport. The Swedish example you cited was vs. a U-17 team, so 17 and 18 year old boys.
Elite male athletes at that age will be bigger, stronger and faster than adult women. That is not in dispute. The top women’s teams play boys teams in that age range because the women can still hang in well enough to make it a game. But the whole point is to play someone faster and stronger than yourself. That’s how you improve.
Yup. Women need to buy tickets. If they don’t buy tickets, they should shut up.
Correction to #26. I said that Macario, Swanson and Mallory Pugh were the future (assuming that Macario and Swanson make full recoveries). Instead of Mallory Pugh, I should have said Trinity Rodman, who is still very young but is going to be a great player if she stays healthy.
Mallory Pugh married Dansby Swanson last year and she uses her married name. Didn’t mean to double count her. She came up to the national team at age 17, still in high school, so we’ve been saying Mallory Pugh for a long time. Haven’t adjusted yet.
If all of them stay healthy, that’s going to be the best front line in the world in four years. In fact, cross your fingers and see if they’re all in form for the Olympics next year. They’re all still young. Two of the three were out of this World Cup due to injury.
I, as well took my young daughters to see USWNT matches and other women's soccer matches. It's a good sport for young folks, and it teaches individual and teamwork. They meet some great kids, and I believe that soccer tends to keep kids away from bad influences. (At least in our cases).
Both did quite well (even though their coach was moi at the younger ages) and ended up playing in div 1 schools.)
That said, some of the players at the top of womens soccer are currently the bad influences. I don't care about Miss Rapinoe's sexual choices, but I do care that she hates our great country, she's an ingrate about the opportunities afforded her, and that Miss Rapinoe uses her influence to hurt the sport and potentially unhealthy messages (men participating in womens sports, for example).
Megan Rapinoe has been a poisonous influence for a long time. I’m glad she’s retiring. But I can’t put the entire blame on Rapinoe. Look at what the colleges and pros have done. Look at what the media does on BLM and gender war issues. And the leadership of U.S. Soccer has been as feckless as the leadership of the NCAA, the NFL, NBA and MLB, and most of corporate America.
Consider Riley Gaines and the other women on the UPenn swimming team who objected to sharing their locker room and showers with a mentally ill man who wants to strut around naked, hasn’t had the decency — since he claims to be transitioning — to get himself castrated, lets it be known that he still prefers to date women, and says that it’s ok because he is a lesbian. A number of the women swimmers objected, and UPenn threatened them with loss of scholarships and recommendations for grad schools and jobs. Instead of protecting women’s spaces, UPenn told the protesting women that they needed reeducation. Like all of her ilk, Rapinoe wants to pose as a heroic protester speaking the truth to power. But in fact she’s just a cheap bully squarely on the side of the woke mob. And the U.S. courts side with the mob.
So the problem isn’t really one obnoxious soccer player. The problem is that American elites have capitulated. And I don’t have a solution for that.
Hating America is now the curriculum in American schools. That’s the problem.
The Swedish team looks great! Based on looks, they deserve to win the women’s soccer title.
It's funny but they know that due to social media that the American fans were rooting for them to win this game.
We need to walk the walk before we talk that talk.
Remember the Swedish Bikini Team? These advertisements would be called non-diverse and racists today. And not up to DEI standards. It’s not fair when the blond women hog all the equity!

The U.S. has plenty of talent on the bench. But that is no longer the edge it once was because most of the European teams and the stronger Asian teams do as well, and now Africa is starting to build strong programs. Women’s soccer is much more balanced internationally than is the men’s game. The rest of the world is catching up. And that is a good thing. U.S. dominance will soon become a thing of the past.
