While insisting that the 2020 election was won by Biden due to fraud (something many of us believe is true), President Trump was packing up his personal belongings and preparing to vacate the office of the President. He did so on schedule.
At no time did Trump say he would NOT leave the White House or vacate the position. He and his supporters simply wanted the suspicions of fraud to be fully investigated.
Pence is a snake in the grass. Much like one of those snakes Trump referred to in his often told story regarding trusting a snake against your better instincts.

It can’t be done! I think they take turns betraying the conservative voters. Someone has to take the job of giving conservatives hope that the GOP politicians have at long last developed a backbone! And more importantly, someone has to utter the conservative phrases to keep the donations rolling into the GOP coffers!
I truly have become to believe that they draw straws to see which one will be responsible for quoting a bit of our nation’s Declaration of Independence or Constitution (with an occasional quote from MLKjr thrown in) during each and every Congressional hearing or debate.
