Are you joking?
The modern era Beech “Texan II” trainer type you are referring to is named after the WWII AT6 Texan trainer.
“Are you joking?”
Not at all. There are several Beech T-6A Texan IIs flying right now.
That's why I'm only getting into commercial airliners. Not sure if it's worth the risk of getting on a helicopter or single seat planes.
I don’t think they had enough altitude to recover.
Trajctory intersecting the Earth.
I look forward to the stories when my friends and customers get back from the show.
In the Navy’s flight school, spins were a regular feature. Once mastered, they were actually great fun, rivaling some carnival rides. Unfortunately, not everyone mastered them. I recall one student spinning in.
Yep, same in the AF. That’s why I was so shocked when I started instructing in General Aviation. What made it more bizarre was that the FAA requires helicopter trainees to practice “settling with power” and the Air Force and Army don’t practice it. I would never practice this maneuver as it is extremely dangerous-more than practicing spins.
Interesting. How does one set up the settling with power scenario?
I honestly don’t know. We always taught the prevention, how to recognize the factors that can put you into the situation.

My flight instructor in the 70s did cover stall-spin entry and recovery. Later when I went up to practice solo I rented a parachute just in case I goofed it. I had so much fun I just kept doing it over and over again for a couple of hours, only stopping because I ran out of rental time...it was sobering to realize how much altitude could be lost when trying to turn too steeply too slowly - an unfortunate kind of landing accident.
I really enjoyed flying practice, even more than reading or shooting.
I firmly believe if you ask any pilot in any country or military in the world, ignoring the actual mission, why he flies, he’ll say that it’f fun.
I’ve never enjoyed anything more. (Don’t tell my wife.)
