From the videos I've been watching Ukraine should be making mine clearing machines. Their men are being decimated by the minefields. I watched a whole column of armored vehicles get caught in a minefield and get blown up by Russian artillery. It was brutal to watch as each vehicle sat in place and waited for their vehicle to explode. Sea drones are great but they can't clear landmines.

Speaking of showing off weapons, I am getting alittle upset of all the US and western equipment videos being destroyed in Ukraine. Smoldering heaps of Leopards, Bradley’s, Humvees, M113s, M777’s, MRAPS….the Leopard death count is now over 19, Bradley’s approaching 30.

Looks like they're holding back the British Challenger-2 from use in combat since there hasn't been any reports of their getting destroyed or captured. An intact French AMX-10 was on display in Mariupol.

Luck is what it is. These are also new weapon systems and the R&D is happening in action.

The most spectacular bit of work was the Crimea bridge attack. That was a very long way to go for weapons like this. This likely means that an improved machine can be controlled all the way on the other side of the Black Sea.

If so, and it’s likely to be, that means Russian commercial shipping over there (tankers, etc) could be vulnerable. These ships would not have the speed or maneuverability to evade, nor weapons and sensors to defend themselves. They would have to be escorted.

YES! PROUD of my time in RVN.
It was an honor to serve as a Grunt.

Not to diminish any non-11Bs, The tip of a spear does not function by itself.
REMFs and POGs, if they actually served (fakes abound on the internet) do a difficult and needed job.
BUT IT IS DIFFERENT, some of my buddies were severely damaged, and some never came home. I’m profoundly deaf from being shot in the face, but doing very well. And have been incredibly fortunate.

Like most Grunts, I have a thick skull and hyde, and being a septuagenarian somewhat less inclined to violence.

FreeRepublic has been a solid source of information and fun reading.

That said, lately there have been a few unfortunate souls that find vicarious pleasure in disruption, they add nothing.

The WSJ comments section had a similar problem caused by TAs giving out student passes and directing the students to post BS.
They added a MUTE function, so no more wasted time it simply lists their post as MUTE on all their posts.

The problem was quickly solved.

My wife and I were in a tire place last week getting a new tire on the car and also waiting was a Vietnam Marine vet so we had a good conversation. He is disabled from Agent Orange and getting shot in the leg and face and has trouble with short term memory now. Great conversation and I made sure to tell him and you how much I appreciate your service in a very tough time and situation. Take care!

I majored in Political Science, minored in American History and got my graduate degree in American Government and Society. I also had a lot of officer related schools along the way while still in uniform. I have tried to impress on my daughter the importance of education but she has so far been happy with a 2 yr degree. Maybe one day......

She can always pursue “free” education if her career is stable.
I recently purchased used textbooks for Microbiology, Immunology, Genetics, and Game Theory. You don’t need pieces of paper to be intelligent.
I understand career oriented schooling. I hope she does well.
Some are late bloomers.
