She might have actually been a doctor following her previous career as lady of the evening, but she was indeed one of the researchers. I forget who played her.

One of my favorite parts is where they come and get the scientists to recall them into government service.

we don’t need no outer space virus, we have 1000s of biolabs trying to create something like this.
Just today I read about a Chinese biolab busted in california, and I have seen documentarys about US funded biolabs in Ukraine and China

She (He in the book) was an epileptic who looked away from a flashing red light to not go into a seizure and when someone noticed she made a joke about working in a red light district.
From TV Tropes: Later, Leavitt ducks looking at a flashing hazard light on a construction sawhorse, and to hide the real reason for not looking (she has epilepsy) she says, "I never did like red lights. Reminds me of my years in a bordello."

Dr. We have a Fire ! We need to leave now.
Saw this when it first came out 1971 - before multiplex theaters. The one we went to was “all in”, lobby lighting was all dimmed down, background speakers were playing lab status reports ( Level 3 reporting O2 levels nominal ), and to top it off all theater staff were wearing white lab / clean room bunny suits! It was Great!”

I saw this when it came out at the OakBrook Theater near Chicago. The inside of the theater was mostly white, and the seats were white as well. Combine that with the white interiors of the lab scenes and it really got you into the spirit of the movie.
Same place I saw The Exorcist.

Thanks. I didn’t know she was cracking wise. I just thought it was a neat sequence of careers, even though the first career was horribly immoral.

I had to wait until AS was broadcast on tv so maybe not as much impact but still a good movie.
A bunch of us summer college dorm kids went to see the Exorcist II. Lots of fun and poking jokes at the screen. Very few in the dorms so like family.

Wasn’t that virus brought to earth on purpose? Government sent spaceships out to find it.

I made it, like, 15 minutes into the movie. It was boring.

It’s a 70s movie. It fits the mold. I watched it when it came out and enjoyed it, but it is flawed. I had read the book first and it helped

I like how YouTube’s propagandist algorithm puts the, “Climate Change,” words on the bottom of the video.
Proving Mr. Crichton’s point.

The biggest flaw is that they rely on the newness of computers to give it an ‘official’ tone. A few printouts from a swivel-head printer and somehow it’s all scary and government-y.
That aged poorly.
