Recall chatting with a fellow in my training platoon that had just come from that school - no one really believed that they’d send those out, and no one believed the timer delay garbage either.
iirc, drawing straws was an option.
That’s a bright idea. I wonder why nobody else thought of it. On the other hand, maybe the retaliatory response would take out DC and McLean and Fairfax county.
I figure we could always powerwash off the monuments.
I’ll keep an eye out for these in the local surplus store.
You left off a few places that would get back more. People are so stupid. Not you.
My understanding was that any of these backpack or suitcase nukes were rendered useless as the fissile material deteriorated fairly quickly.k
They were useless unless used in a very short span of time.
I really couldn’t say - when asked what his odd MOS was, he would stretch his arms to the sky, bellow “Nuclear Demolitions!” at the top of his lungs, followed by a long stretch of stereotypical villain laughter.
It was both hysterical and slightly unnerving. Interesting days.
Davey Crockett, king of the wild frontier.🙄
Thanks! A prophet is not appreciated in his own land. And also, you like my power wash idea for those marble monuments?
I bet they’d clean up better than people think.
Not any kind of expert here. What COULD be provided that might force the Russians to withdraw and settle this to stop the dying
On both sides? Anything?
What could be provided? Ukrainian nazism being ended and NATO shutting down the Ukraine project.
I suspect you were wanting to hear what weapon might do the trick. But there is no such weapon. Any weapon provided that “improves” things simply moves everyone a step up the escalation ladder. And at the very top of that ladder is the largest nuclear arsenal on earth on the Russian side.
So your escalation plan is that if you inflict a military defeat on them with some wonder weapon, they will slink home in humiliation, pay Ukraine a bunch of money, and install a government the DC/London axis approves of.
In reality, if with some wonder weapon, you could drive them back, they will go nuclear in the face of that existential threat.
Bottom line, you are gambling that a nuclear armed nation would prefer complete defeat over using their most powerful weapon. Would we in America accept complete defeat of our military, rather than use our weapons?
Herman Kahn says probably not.
I like that you are saying the quiet part out loud. I think too many American people quietly assume our government acts in our best interests with prudent restraint. This does not appear correct as of late.
