Who is supposed to be the Green Beret (Special Forces) man in the video?

“I have a question with regards to cluster munitions.
Don’t they have to be dropped via aircraft?
How’s this going to work?”

So....
I think the plan is to use the ATCAMS
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MGM-140_ATACMS
with Cluster munitions, for entrenched positions.

Me thinks this is an alternative to giving the Ukrainians F-16 and F/A-18 aircraft in large enough numbers to destabilize the Russians. Honestly, if they took all of the aircraft that were in storage, put decent pilots in them, they would control the skies not only over Ukraine but likely Russia. Since most of the Russian military is actually in Ukraine, the Russians could potentially collapse entirely. In this scenario, this ‘could’ potentially degenerate into a thermonuclear exchange.

Giving the Ukrainian rockets to retake Ukraine is a much more controllable outcome then giving them an entire air force and expecting them to stop at the border.....

CBU-24 Vietnam era weapon. very effective against ground troops. We used them at flak suppression. 665 bomblets per container. We carried four per aircraft.

I’m not sure how saying you’re an “ex-Marine” burnishes your credentials. (Written as the son of an ex-Marine.) His service record indicates he was an electro-optical ordnance repairman. Nothing wrong with that, “thanks for your service,” but it hardly gives him an edge in geopolitical analysis.

I have been active in the financial markets for 40+ years, so when I see a talking head “expert” on Fox Business or CNBC or Bloomberg who I don’t recognize I always Google him to see what his track record is.

Brian Berletic lives in Bangkok. Aside from him using various names on his videos and articles, he has consistently promoted the CCP, defended the murderous Myanmar regime, and attacked Taiwan. His central theme is that the US is interfering with Thailand in its supposed pivot to China.

Bottom line: it’s dubious that he has anything to contribute to a discussion of the Ukrainian-Russian war more than any other schmo who spends an hour or so a day reading about it on the internet.

So we are paying billions for another country to lose a war?

I can’t vouch for the validity of the claims, I’ve seen reports this morning talking about cluster bombs being given to Ukraine.

Two Points were made.

The reason we are giving them cluster munitions now is the USA has given Ukraine just about all of our conventional artillery shells in stock and cluster bombs are the only thing left to give Ukraine until production is ramped up to make more.

Second point - part of the justification of giving the bombs to Ukraine is Russia has been using them against Ukraine, the reports I’ve seen is that if Russia has been using cluster bombs, the entire world would have known about it because the USA would be alleging Russia is involved in War Crimes by using the weapons.

Could this be true, perhaps it could also be totally false.

The Marine equipment repairman Brian Berletic, the Hindustan Times calls a Green Beret (Special Forces) also goes by Tony Cartalucci.

I have two question.

Since cluster bombs are dropped from planes etc... and they’re only going to be used in Ukraine..

. and since civilized countries don’t use them because the unexploded ones can maim and kill people years later...

and since we’re told Ukraine is a democracy...

Why don’t the Ukrainians have a referendum so citizens can weigh in on the use of these horrible cluster bombs. And will Americans be the people who have to ‘find and defuse’ them after this war?

And Second question:

What do we do when Putin uses internationally outlawed horrible weapons too?

“””The reason we are giving them cluster munitions now is the USA has given Ukraine just about all of our conventional artillery shells in stock “””

There is a huge difference between saying we are almost out of stock, versus having sent almost all of the ones we were willing to part with.

The second point—Russia has been using cluster bombs extensively since they first launched the invasion, even Ukraine has been using them.

Russia has been committing war crimes with them by using them indiscriminately against civilians.

Most of these are 155 shells, not for aircraft.

Civilized countries use CBs or we wouldn’t have them and sell them to allies.

Russia has been using CBs since the first days of the invasion, even Ukraine has been using them some.

Luckily Zelenskyy has cancelled elections until after the war, so no democracy.

Two, it’s only bad when we don’t do it…

“The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 (P.L. 111-117), which President Bush signed into law December 16, 2009, prohibits the provision of military assistance for cluster munitions, the issuing of defense export licenses for cluster munitions, or the sale or transfer of cluster munitions or cluster munitions technology unless “the submunitions of the cluster munitions, after arming, do not result in more than 1 percent unexploded ordnance across the range of intended operational environments.” Moreover, any agreement “applicable to the assistance, transfer, or sale of such cluster munitions or cluster munitions technology” must specify that the munitions
“will only be used against clearly defined military targets and will not be used where civilians are known to be present or in areas normally inhabited by civilians.” Subsequent appropriations laws have included similar provisions; the most recent is the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2019 (P.L. 116-6), which President Trump signed into law on February 15, 2019.”

https://sgp.fas.org/crs/weapons/RS22907.pdf

“The military departments and combatant commands, in keeping with U.S. legal obligations under CCW Protocol V on Explosive Remnants of War and consistent with past practices, would continue to record and retain information on the use of cluster munitions and provide relevant information to facilitate the removal or destruction of unexploded submunitions.”

“The Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM), inter alia, bans the use of cluster munitions, as well as their development, production, acquisition, transfer, and stockpiling.”

Denmark (and other Western European countries) apparently cannot allow the use of their airspace for cluster munitions transfer. And if the cluster munitions get sent via Turkey, the Russians may arm the Kurds big time.

According to who’s reports? I don’t think Putin is going to tell us the truth. So I do not believe it is a math problem, I believe it’s a truth issue.

But let’s keep in touch over the next few months, one of us is going to be correct. Either Russia is out of weapons and the stops fighting or the West keeps pouring in weapons to keep fighting Russia.

Oh, did anyone think that maybe this is a Russia/ China plan to exhaust the West of weapons, tie us down in Ukraine allowing China to take Taiwan? Who benefits from a weakened West and Russia 🧐.

*First casualty of war its...truth*

Correct. Some people enjoy being lied to.
Europe is educated. It’s the uneducated ones who are more susceptible. So why do the lies keep coming out.? It appears even the educated ones enjoy it too.

You know Ukraine is winning when mockery is your argument.
Ukraine can’t win, and this isn’t US business.

How’s our border doing?
Crime?
ODs?
CRE?
Etc.

You’re absolutely entitled to your opinion. You might even be right.

My point was that the “authority” cited in the clip is hardly a credible one.

I do hope that Ukraine defeats the mini-Stalin, but I concede it’s just a hope.
