Those that understand the beginnings of Church history, Christ’s Church was called the Way and in the first century became known as the Catholic (universal) Church.

In the beginning before the books of the New Testament were written (and most could not read) Jesus, the apostles and their successors shared God’s Truth orally and passed down to others as Sacred Tradition. The Catholic Church continues to pass down the Word of God orally in the liturgy, prayers and homilies.

The members of the Catholic Church also wrote the books of the New Testament, and many monks and others copied and preserved God’s revelations for all of us.

Yes, there were some that did not agree with God’s Word, such as Jesus was not divine and material things were bad. So heresy existed in the early church and was dealt with.

I know that many believe and follow what we are taught without always verifying the facts or fully understanding what has been passed down.

So where is that stated in the Bible? So how can you limit God? So how do you know that your understanding of the words of the Bible are correct? How do you know whether or not if something other than the Bible is God’s Truth?

Can you explain that numerous individuals reported that the sun appeared to change colors, spin, and “dance” in the sky on October 13, 1917 at Fatima?

So did your seminary training use any other books besides the Bible?

Perhaps the brainwashing is from protestant ministers and parents that teach part of the truth, but also untruths. I have seen many misrepresentations about the Catholic faith.

You make a blanket statement without any facts or documentation to back it up. “Revenue-generating men founded the Catholic denomination.” Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church and delegated His Authority to Peter and his successors. Check the Bible for confirmation. All religions need money to operate and while the CC and others have had financial problems in the past, early Catholics struggled to fight poverty and the persecution and abuse of the Roman Empire. You can thank them for growing the faith.

On the other hand protestant religions (How many now 20,000 to 30,000?) were formed by men and women that walked away from God’s Truths and the Catholic faith. How can there be 20,000 or whatever number versions of God’s revealed truths?

Did Jesus actually establish new protestant churches in the 1500’s etc; or were they established by men and women like Luther, Calvin et al (former Catholics)?

People (even Catholics) can believe or have different opinions, but they can’t change God’s Truth.

For example, most protestants and even some Catholics may not truly believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. They do not believe in the Words of Jesus in John 6:53. “Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.” Jesus didn’t say to eat a symbol as He stated He was the bread of life.

Yes, the Catholic Church is not perfect as it is run by men that are saints and sinners. It as made many mistakes and many have left the church, but it has maintained God’s revealed Truth that Jesus gave us for our salvation.

Catholics have made many mistakes in our lives and we can poke fun at ourselves, even Pope Peter denied Christ 3 times, but with the Sacrament of Confession we can repent and tell the priest three times that we love Jesus and the priest (acting for Jesus) will forgive our sins.
