How absurd!

Our church did the internet services (but, had already had that tech in place, before china virus), held outdoor services, for a while.....then, fully re-opened, and, the silly masks were optional.

NEVER any mention of the horrid $hots, thankfully.

I like that you listed the positives.

I am hopeful that many eyes were opened. I was shocked at the level of lies and compliance but I did see some honesty, like the Barrington Declaration, some courage (John Macarthur really stood out) but less famous guys too; I know people who lost their jobs over refusing to comply; I know churches that continued to assemble for worship; and I saw fake passport run arounds and businesses that defiantly stayed open. Eventually the courts started ruling for us (too little too late but still we are winning some judgements). Even some politicians stood and kept people free and called crap out - looking at you Sen. Paul.

Mostly I have basis for hope that this will be very hard to pull off “next time.” We need to get laws in place that limit the cudgel of “declaration of emergency”

It's very sad to hear stories like yours. It grieves me to see churches closed down due to their capitulation to the Covid narrative. I honestly haven't been back to a church just because it's nearly impossible to find one that didn't in some way give in to the government or is still mandating vaccines or social distancing. It's only due to the encouragement that I receive in places like Free Republic that I'm able to keep going.

See my tagline.

It’s going to take a long time, if ever, for churches like yours to recover.

Thanks for pointing out some light in this darkness!

Indeed, there is a sort of brotherhood among those who resisted from the beginning.

There is a tacit understanding among those who complied with the foolishness that they ended up on the wrong side of history.

Televangelists I'm sure are still raking in the profits for online services. Most of them, though, do nothing to encourage the flock.

If people can find good preachers online, then of course, watch and listen to them, but they are hard to find. Maybe we ought to start a list of good online ministries for people to tune into.

Sounds like you attend one of the few churches peppered across the fruited plain. Praise God for them.

Hopefully some of the other conservative churches will find their courage again - including my own.

Sounds like your church was one of the few who did things right. Kudos.

Interesting to note. There are no PCA's here in central Indiana that I can find on their website. HOWEVER, there are three PCA's in the area of Rapid City, Sturgess and Spearfish in South Dakota, an area I was thinking of relocating to.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Do we have anyone from that area visiting this thread right now who can chime in? I'm looking for a good church, and I'm also looking for a good place to retire to. Maybe God is at work here?

I know, and serves us right, really.

But some of the regular members wrote very eloquent arguments for staying open, really pleaded. I was gratified by that. It was just the leadership! Sigh

I’ve always been a bit of a cynic, but even I was shocked at how fast the majority of people were eager to become Good Little Nazis.

Me, I was standing out on a corner with a sign that said “Freedom Is Essential Too!”

Can’t tell you how many times I ended up having to tell mask nazis to piss off.

How many churches now sit empty because they went along with the narrative? I've seen three church structures, all literally with a quarter mile of each other, that have been sold to local merchants and turned into a business of some sort. They paid the price for their betrayal.

I haven't been back to my local church for exactly this reason. If the Church won't stand up to evil, it doesn't deserve to exist.

It’s a Shakespearean tragedy that there are no PCA churches near you (ha- kidding, the Christ is glorified in many church persuasions).

Though living in the midwest not familiar with any.

I attend PCA, but/and I am truly Reformed Baptist (credo baptist vs pedo baptist) at my core.

There may be some Reformed Baptist churches around. I think some website Founders has suggestions. sorry no link, but findable. cheers

Find a faithful church and attend. We don’t win by staying home.

Finding a faithful church requires a lot of research. It's easier than it used to be, because their scamdemic response is a dead giveaway. I find that personal study is better anyway.
