Maybe. This is California. But is great karma though.

Excellent!

Couldn't Happen to a more deserving profession.

Afterthought: What's a California Judge doing with a Rolex?

RE: and began the two-block trek to his office

Without military trained security guards ahead and behind?

Like the old joke: The depressed man whose body was found in the vacant lot wrote a suicide note to his wife and children and walked unarmed through Detroit.

Cali will probably remove him from the bench now that he can no longer fairly and objectively put murderers, rapists and robbers back on the streets where they belong, according to their Dear Leader.

In 2016 I lived in the city of Alameda which is a part of the much larger Alameda County which includes Oakland. Alameda is separated from Oakland by a narrow waterway traversed by two underwater tunnels ("tubes" in CA speak) which tended to keep the Oakland riff-raff from bleeding into Alameda. But I had to drive through Oakland to get to Alameda and I was hyper on situational awareness as I passed through.

I was only there 6 months before I was called for jury duty. I guess they're short of people without felony convictions who are eligible to serve on a jury. So I had to go into Oakland, park and go into the courthouse. As I finished up my career as an engineer I had served as an expert witness in patent litigation so I was no stranger to courtrooms at the Federal level at least.

It was a rape trial. A retrial actually. The prosecutor started out talking about "social justice for rape victims". This was right after the big fuss about the swimmer at Stanford who did sexually assault a woman who he met at a party but did not actually go so far as to rape her. There was a big fuss because, even though he was sentenced according to guidelines, all the usual people were outraged that the sentence was not more harsh.

From the questionnaire given to prospective jurors, I inferred that it was a he-said she-said deal and there had been a hung jury the first go around. I suspect the prosecutor wanted a second bite of the apple and was hoping public outrage would produce a conviction on the second go around.

With my courtroom experience, I knew just what to say to get out of jury duty. Because the last thing I wanted to do was have to travel to Oakland daily. I wanted to ask the prosecutor the difference between "social justice" and "equal justice" but I refrained from smarting off in the courtroom.

This judge, not the same one in whose court I sat, is lucky. At about the same time, a co-worker's roommate who lived in Oakland was shot in the head walking home just after midnight. He should have thought it through and remembered where he was. AFAIK the murder was never solved.

Exactly, crime has victims, welcome to the party Judge.... now let’s talk about no bail and suspended sentences....

I live in a relatively safe community, but I have stopped wearing jewelry, even cheap costume jewelry, and always dress casually when going out. The way things are going, I could be a victim even in my “safe community”.

It won’t be long until they start kidnapping and killing judges, as has been happening in Mexico for years.

Pamela (D-Soros) Price is the DA. Let her force some “restorative justice” on the judge. She’s already declared war on one of the Sup Ct judges - assuming the victim here isn’t that one.

Afterthought answer: Wearing the Rolex because his favorite of all the Patek Philippes was at the shop. Good to be a judge.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Ronald Reagan's definition of a Conservative as:

A Liberal Who Got Mugged

I guess we'll see if that is true.

When my granddaughter's California high school senior class went to New York on the class trip, the first thing the boys did was head for Chinatown to buy fake Rolexes...

...and to think I thought it was just teenage silliness!

That just goes to show you that not everything that happens in Mexico is bad.
