“Michigan State officials have violated the First Amendment and federal civil rights laws by authorizing professors to force students to support speech antithetical to their deepest values and faith.”
She apparently forced all her students (600 of them) to pay that fee.
This is compelled speech and should not be allowed!
Even if the students weren’t pro-life, why should this professor force his students to pay for this donation?
How did she ‘force’ them? Like with a gun? The force of her overwhelming personality? I can’t imagine any of my many college professors could have forced me to buy them a cup of coffee much less join some organization I didn’t want to.
I dropped LOTS of classes that I had value conflicts with the ‘perfessers’.
That so called professor shouldn’t!
You’re right, that is force!
That’s right, it SHOULD be forbidden!
They should sue the university!
My wife somehow got on the PP list and gets requests for donations all the time. She has replied three times with requests to stop sending them.
“The next time they do it I’m going to tell them to keep them coming - and I’m going to donate to the local pro-life clinic each time instead!”
She the ONLY professor that teaches a REQUIRED course, for years, in the ONLY business college in the region? When I had a communist hippie jerk teaching my Econ 501 MBA course, I just dropped the course and took it with a GREAT econ professor the next semester.
This is extortion. No pay, no course, no degree! Worthy of jail time and no professorship.
Good for the suers
1) it was a required course
2) a requirement to take the course was to buy a book
3) read the article
sometimes I dont red the excerpt either... but this was included above...
Once students paid the $99 subscription fee online, they saw a statement that said, “Your membership fees are used to (1) pay for use of the technology and (2) pay guest speakers, educators, and facilitators. Your professor does not receive any financial compensation from your membership fees as that would be a conflict of interest.”
Let me guess. The professor is a white woman. Was I right?
nearly $60,000 each time she taught the class
........................
She gets 1,000 students per class? That doesn’t sound right.
Assignments seem to have required use of the organization’s private website.
Yes - why people come to this website and comment without reading the articles and are so combative is beyond me.
