I love Central Park.Whenever I visit NYC I try to spend time there. It features a number of rocky outcrops that look like tiny mountains...and look very, very much out of place.

After some research I learned that they are remnants of a time...thousands of years ago...when NYC was enveloped under a glacier that was something like a half mile thick.

I noticed that none of the “arguments” involved science, but instead were all rhetorical disagreements.

The simple question is, “What caused the end of the last ice age? and on the Flipside, what starts the beginning of an ice age?

"If it wasn’t for climate change, Chicago would still be under a mile of ice."

A pleasant thought. It would not be missed.

I thought that was a dispensational chart at first!

I just committed a serious Freeper faux pas - I actually read the article (well, skimmed it, actually - let’s not get crazy). Funny thing, none of the 12 so-called arguments are actually arguments that reality-based people use except possibly for #9 (that fossil fuels have lifted millions from poverty).

Most of their so-called “arguments” actually start from the assumption that “climate change” is a real threat. We are not arguing from that perspective - we are arguing that climate change is a natural part of the world’s complex climate system, more fueled by the great nuclear fusion reactor we are located near than any action on man’s part, and nothing we do can alter it to any significant degree.

Plus all the other arguments not mentioned - that there is little or no discernible correlation between atmospheric CO2 and temperature, that much of the data that shows a correlation has been falsified to that effect, that computer models only predict what the biased men who programmed them told them is important, that a few volcanic eruptions spew out way more CO2 than we do, that sea level has not risen anywhere near what was predicted, that more CO2 means more plant growth and more food, etc. etc. etc.

The person who wrote this either has never argued with someone who knows anything or is being deliberately obtuse.

I stopped reading at “One hundred companies are responsible for 71 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions.”

That’s absurd, unless there is some industrial conglomerate I don’t know about that controls the Sun.

Seriously, the Minoan Warm Period almost exactly is the Era of Judges, and Greek Dark Age cooling period is the Era of Kings. The Roman Warm Period is the New Testament period (starting a few centuries before Christ and ending two centuries after John’s death).

So, "Vice", What You are actually saying is that Europeans are even dumber and more easily propagandized than Americans.

Europeans are just maintaining their proud history of easily succumbing to totalitarianism.

I’ve got one they can”t answer. There are numerous instances of mastodon and wooly mammoth bones being dug up while excavating in my part of the world, South Texas. People find mammoth and mastodon teeth on our beaches regularly. McFadden NWR continues to produce artifacts from many millennia ago. Climate change has always happened, and it will continue to happen. Humans don’t have a damn thing to do with it.

EVERYONE can agree pollution is bad, and it should be stopped. And they are welcome to believe anything they want.
So why must they demand that we believe it too?

Everyone can agree that someone has the right to believe that a man can become a woman. But they don’t have to right to demand that we believe it too.

I am starting to see a pattern here.

I’ve seen some charts that show CO2 levels and planet heating that make it look like CO2 could indeed be a problem.

Until one zooms in. The heat comes first, the CO2 follows. it’s a lagging indicator.

So, The planet heats from the sun, the earth’s sub mantle heating the oceans, etc. and it gets hot right? So CO2 follows along, feeding the vegetation, so we have more food, trees, etc. all the good things nice little greenie weenies CLAIM they love. All life forms thrive when there’s more heat and vegetation.

So, to oppose this, is to be a death cult. I guess.

I agree with the CO2 being a laggard, not precursor, to temps. Most importantly, I agree with what you said about warmer periods being the good times. Those are the times of higher crop yields, more predictable rain patterns, and less deaths by plague.

People used to know that until the political cult did years of brainwashing to teach the masses into hating a good thing. Until they did that in the 1990's it was common knowledge by those of us who pay attention to science that life in the Modern Warm Period is good relative to life in the cooling periods, especially the most recent one (Little Ice Age). If you look in the past we know that at least in the prior two warm periods (Medieval and Roman) the people knew that warm periods were good and cooling periods were bad. In other words, they were happy about living in their warm period (at least the climate aspect, maybe they hated being conquered by Rome or other stuff). People in the Little Ice Age would have gladly swapped places with us if they could have. They'd think that we're crazy for losing the ability to be happy about good times -- and they'd be right.

The last real climate change was around 10,800BC and the one before that was around 16,500BC, neither of which humans had anything to do with.

A number of alarmist assertions made here are false, some are half truths. They are the ones that are harder to refute because there is a grain of truth behind the hype. I use the saying attributed to wise old Ben Franklin: “A half truth can be as bad as a great lie.”

These are straw man arguments. The real argument is that to end fossil fuels we have to allow half the world to starve and or freeze to death, so it is better to let the world warm up by another 1 degree over the next 100 years .

I ask, why is global warming only bad, aren’t there good points to it? How does writing a check to the government fix it? How will we know when it’s fixed? Name a government agency that has been disbanded once its core goals were met?
