Did the plane have autopilot?
“That is the audio. The video is some other footage sync’d up to the audio.”
On the radio the guy says the plane will want to go right when the one gear contacts the ground. The video shows a plane with both gear up.
I think this is the article and video I first saw, but I’m adding two others of this incident and there may be more:

That is neither a Cub nor Cherokee....I’ve flown both.
A more modern low-wing tricycle gear......retractable gear.....
Can’t remember what this plane is, but used to know it.....78 year old memory not working....
Yup. My thought as well when I got to that line (’off’).
Eh. Into the bin...
To the media a Piper Cub is as generic as an AR-15.
I remember my first solo. I had just taken off and was on the downwind keg. The tower told me to continue so I just went straight. When I was about 2 miles from the airport I was asked where I was. Said I was continuing. Told me to turn and then get on final.
The next 2 landings were uneventful. Everyone had a good laugh when I got out of the plane. (A Piper Warrior by the way.)
Is there a video?
You are exactly right.
17-Year-Old Flies Again After Crash Landing During First Solo Flight
I was wondering. The original video I saw previously (the one I just posted) was a retractable gear aircraft. I didn’t realize until today that the plane she was flying was actually a fixed-gear. That’s when the disparity jumped out at me RE the video I posted. Thanks..
My dad and my uncle were flying farmers that managed Mercer County airport (IL) back in the late 50s early 60s. They flew charter and instruction in Tri-Pacers. I have a lot of memories of those times. One was when Dad was giving instrument instruction. Inside the windshield and front side windows were covered with thin amber plexiglas. The student would wear dark blue glasses. He could see the panel, but not outside.
In the mid 70’s I had share in a TP. Had a lot of fun with it. We had a grass strip on the farm, and I barnstormed the neighborhood. Majority owner wanted a Cessna Cardinal, and bought me and the other shareholder out.
“But on her first solo takeoff, out of a small airport in Massachusetts, something didn’t sound right. The plane had lost one of the landing gear wheels.”
Generally a good idea to make sure the wheels are attached before taking off in an airplane.
Conventional landing gear.
No auto pilots in the 60s. No radio. No Omni. No radar. No GPS or even a Ground Speed Indicator.
Air speed and compass. That was it.
Different incident...
That girls name is Taylor. This story is about a girl named Maggie. I guess the writer could be writing about anyone the way these journalists are taught these days! lol
I guess I have to do the walk of shame, LOL...
Definitely not a Cub. Archer?
Definitely not a Cub. it says Warrior II on the cowl
