I use a French Press and and prefer Gevalia Columbian.
I live on a sailboat and electricity is sometimes limited. French Press works great and consistently makes great coffee.
I’m glad you found a workaround. What kind of exotic tea?
If you don’t like cinnamon, any amount is too much.
Don’t do or add ANYTHING. Strong and black.
I admit I have a Starbucks habit because its convenient to my house and has some cute baristas. Also the coffee I make at home in my drip coffee maker at home tastes awful no matter what I do. I may try some of these suggestions.
Since we live in bizarro 1984 world, before long Victory coffee is all we will get.
“”This person doesn’t like coffee. This advice just turns bad coffee into non-coffee. I prefer the taste of bad coffee (e.g. vending machine coffee) to cinnamon.””
Exactly, except for the pinch of salt idea it was about turning it into a flavored drink.
pinch of baking soda in the grounds when you brew.

Esiest way to get rid of the taste of bad coffee is to chuck the Starbuck’s in the trash can where it belongs and go home and make some genuinely good coffee.
Good coffee requires no additives. Black only.
The best coffee I’ve had was brewed in a French press.
Next to that, Keurig pod Colombian.
What’s described here, is not coffee.
Guess we’d better stockpile ammo AND coffee.
Very sorry to hear what the cancer did to - but happy you’re still here and you’ve found your suitable coffee.
Diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer about 15 years ago ((thanks a whole lot, Agent Orange) but I’ll still here, more or less. And drinking coffee.
Agree about the French press. It’s my preferred method. I do add cream though.
Of possible interest to coffee fans on a budget — Aldi’s has a dark roast Sumatra that’s on par with the popular Starbucks Sumatra for a couple bucks less per bag.
Same here. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee from a French press. Delicious.
I dont think Merlyn ever tried spicing his coffee and just made that up at the last minute. If he did he probably just tried the same one a couple of times.
Have you ever had to share a maker with someone that buys all those crazy flavors and changes it constantly?
The flavor gets stuck in the plastic. By pot 6 you pour yourself a cup and discover that youre drinking Columbian Cinnamon Sugar Cookie Maple Autumn Surprise Arabica Blueberry Highland Dark Chocolate Rum Grog.
That method is one of the best for preserving the full flavor of the coffee - but damn, it's annoying to clean. For me, the Aeropress is the ideal solution. Great for a single (large) mug, but can be "reloaded" quickly.
I know someone who adds Swiss Mix. Mediocre coffee + bad instant cocoa does not become good.
OTOH, mediocre coffee plus hot milk in a 1:2 ratio is a decent cafe au lait.
