I spent a week in Philadelphia around 2011 and some of the black women had some pretty impressive hair styling.

About 80 to 90 years ago black hairdressers had a large chuck of the white women’s hair styling market I believe.

I grew up with black girls who had Afros nearly as wide as their shoulders. I don’t believe anyone gave it a second thought.
