An older woman of my acquaintance who grew up in DC and worked there all her life complained to me when Ruth Bader Ginsburg was appointed. Of all the things to object to RBG about, she didn't like the appointment because RBG "is so unattractive looking"! This person was a GS-13. I was gobsmacked.
