A friend mentioned to me that maybe the Chinese had packed it with vials of various bioweapon diseases and that is the real reason that they don’t want to shoot it down and “damage” the landfall area. As good a theory as any???
“ A friend mentioned to me that maybe the Chinese had packed it with vials of various bioweapon diseases”
I did make a half tongue and cheek comment earlier about the purpose was to spread covid powder across the land to boost vaccine sales. Though if they were afraid to shoot it down for fear of contaminating one area, then wouldn’t it be worse to spread the contagion across the whole continent?
"I am not a number! I am a Free Man!"
(Now if this darn giant beach ball would only just stop chasing me around...)
I think the idea of the comment my friend made was that shooting it down would disseminate the contagion and contaminate a large area and many people:
“This can be achieved in a number of ways, such as: via aerosol sprays; in explosive devices; via food or water; or absorbed or injected into skin.
“Utilizing such weapons holds a certain appeal to terrorists; they have the potential to cause great harm, of course, but they are also fairly cheap to produce when compared with missiles or other more hi-tech equipment.
“Also, they can be ‘detonated,’ [or shot down] and, due to the long time that it takes for them to spread and take effect, there is plenty of time for the perpetrator to escape undetected.
Biological weapons can be difficult to control or predict in a battlefield situation, since there is a substantial risk that troops on both sides will be affected. However, if a terrorist is interested in attacking a distant target [as in China vs USA] as a lone operant, bioterrorism carries much less risk to the person.” [China in this case]
