Nobody intubates anybody unless it is clearly indicated, which means that the patient is so sick he will not be able to breathe without the support of the ventilator.
If some isolated physician "Dr. Iwashyna" did this early intubation, it was an isolated practice, and his "protocol" or that of his hospital, was his or theirs alone.
It was NOT a widespread practice, nor would it be.
BECAUSE, first of all, putting patients on a vent is a huge, dangerous escalation in care that is avoided as much as possible.
Plus if people are put on a ventilator, their secretions have to be handled by lots of other people... it would increase spread, not decrease it.
If people want to get angry about this epidemic, then sure, you can blame the physicians.
But the REAL blame is the CCP and the NIH collaborators who helped devise the Covid-19 virus, Francis Collins and Anthony Fauci, and all the people working with Wuhan, the CDC, and Eco-Health Alliance and other shadow companies.
Try them and hang them first.
Don't start with the rank and file MDs who were lied to and kept in the dark just the same and everyone else.
The CDC protocol specified ventilators and there were incentives to adhere strictly to the protocol. WIth a Covid diagnoses, even presumed Covid, tens of thousands of dollars are awarded to the hospital. Adhering strictly to the protocol granted the hospital freedom from liability. It happened. Alot. And it wasn’t 1 or 2 doctors reporting this. It was respiratory therapists (plural), doctors (plural), nurses (plural). It started reaching the public early on and remained consistent.
What is your problem? The post he was replying to didn’t say anything about HIV. The entire thread and his comment is talking about ventilators and Remdesivir!

Doctors around the world communicated with each other early on as to how to deal with covid-caused ARDS. To note, the very first case of coronavirus in NYC was reported March 01, 2020. Within six weeks, doctors worldwide were modifying their approach to ARDS:

So between March 1, 2020 when NYC saw its first case and June, 2020, researchers had greatly modified their treatment of covid ARDS based on evolving real world experience and trying to accommodate different levels of severity of ARDS. Not exactly a pattern of doctors intentionally trying to kill people.

No amount of distorted data Pfizer ever vomited up on the public was a problem for you. You were fine with the way efficacy was reported, even though it was obviously and hideously false - that the ‘shots’ were supposedly going to reduce infection by about 1% or less. No I never see you do anything but comb through articles questioning Fauci’s regime and its legacy. THEN nothing is satisfactory and everything is a complaint. I’ve just generally been following this via pieces on substack , but can’t remember particularly which one. but the word is there’s enough to claim fraud. This from scientists, not just some random bloggers.
So we did all the intubations.
No patient was intubated, over the months (years) of the epidemic, who was not in extremis and needed intubation and mechanical ventilation to continue living.
If someone had said to me and my colleagues that we were supposed to intubate 'preemptively' or whatever, according to some CDC protocol, we, the nurses, the RTs, the patient, the families, EVERYONE, would have said, tube steaks, i.e., cram it.
We did not institute mechanical support on any patient except in those in whom it was clearly indicated by standard criteria.
No CDC orders or protocol was mentioned to me or anyone else.
And for months, I did COVID intubations for a living.
I have no idea what others did, but, in my hospital and my hospital system, no COVID patient was intubated who was not gasping and struggling to breathe, and who also met standard criteria for intubation.
And if others did, shame on them. But the practice was not widespread.
For crying out loud, there were so many who were genuinely needing intubation that we had more than enough work to do with them.
I have no idea what your background is, which state you live in, or if you actually dealt with any COVID patients. But I did, and I spoke with intensivists and ER doctors from other hospitals in my system and outside of it, and nobody did any sort of 'preemptive' intubation and mechanical ventilation. The article is bullshit.
I woke up at home with an 85% blood oxygen once.
