Her hoplophobia story is legit - I’m not surprised she is afraid of them and that fear has been honed into a hatred by the media and culture she was exposed to.

Throughout Ghana guns are “illegal” but just like anywhere else, they exist. While playing with her cousin who had a gun he negligently discharged at a wall that she was standing in front of just a second before he pulled the trigger.

So in her reality, guns are too easy to use to prevent mistakes. She wishes solely that guns had “some sort” of system that made it only possible to shoot when you truly want to. That said, her fear is that kids (As she preached to me about my own kid) will always be able to make this mistake.
