What in the heck does, “9.6 million radio waves” even mean. The urinalists and their editors these days are pathetic. This could mean they send a 9.GHz frequency beam for 1 second and finished.

Radio waves travel at the speed of light, regardless of their frequency. So a single 1 Hz wave and a single 9.6 MHz wave, released simultaneously, will strike the asteroid at the same instant.

Frequency is the term for expressing the number of complete wave cycles that occur in one second for a given wavelength and is expressed in Hertz (Hz).

Wavelength is the term used for the physical length of a single complete wave expressed in meters. To convert one to the other divide the speed of light (300,000,000 meters per second) by the known value to get the unknown value:

300000000/96000000 = 31.25 meters in wavelength.
