When mrs. abb & I were courting, that was our regular Friday night date at my folks house - Rockford Files and Quincy. Saturday we would splurge and go to a movie.
“ The 70s spawned the Vietnam war? /facepalm”
Better to blame Nixon and Ford and not Kennedy/Johnson, I guess
Agnes was never declared a hurricane, IIRC, but that girl did a lot of damage in the NE as a tropical storm.
Truman “sent over transport planes and jeeps, along with 35 military advisers, as part of a multimillion-dollar aid package.
U.S. involvement in the conflict would only deepen from there. By the end of Truman’s presidency, the United States was funding more than one-third of France’s war costs.”
It was JFK that got us involved in an actual war.
Horrible music
Gas lines
Jimmy Carter
Saturday Night Live (when it was funny)
Got out of the Navy in ‘70. Married in ‘71. College. Work. I remember it well.
Bell bottom slacks.
I went through BCT with a lot of guys from Mississippi in the fall of ‘69. They told us stories about Hurricane Camille that still give me nightmares.
We watch an episode every evening.
>Lynyrd Skynyrd. Free Bird. Oakland Coliseum Stadium. Summer 1977.
Got that right. That performance is right up there with Queen at Wembly 1985.

“It was a decade that spawned the Sex Pistols and the Vietnam War, platform shoes and Saturday Night Fever.”
Bullshit! The Vietnam war was “spawned” at least 15 years before the Shitty Seventies wver started/
“A high school parking lot full of the best cars ever”
I don’t know about high school, but that was how it was for the parking lot at work. Bring back the cool cars!
And two more years of Biden will be enough to have most of us longing for the Jimmy Carter days again.
There was some horrible music, and there was also GREAT music. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
I remember those gas lines. I think that’s when I first learned to pump my own gas. Why did we pay someone extra to do that for us?
“Bell bottom slacks.”
Oh, yeah. Just a month or two ago I got rid of most of my sewing patterns from the ‘70s and ‘80s. There were bell bottoms. I was too short for them to look good on me.
The ‘60s styles were better.
Leisure suits. I hear they are making a comeback.
SNL was actually funny in the 70s.
