That's been true to varying degrees among voters since the advent of TV. It's important to enough people that it can be the deciding factor in otherwise close elections.

Not really. Sessions and Barr are who Mitch McConnell would allow as attorney general. Their #1 job was to protect the status quo and let the corruption in the FBI and DOJ wear Trump down. The Democrats set up Trump, the Republicans leadership let it happen while pretending their hands were clean.
