I am a mere lad of 51, almost too young to go….

Some days I am a bit sluggish since coming home about two weeks ago.

I’ve lost a great deal of weight.

From 300 to about 224 last I tried a reliable scale.

The diverticulitis diet and related is one tough and expensive way to drop the pounds.

That’s a lot of weight, and a solid accomplishment.

No nuts and seeds. Mostly meat, fruit, and veg?

Energy drinks are a major no-no for me.

**I only drink it on very long drives. When I find myself nodding off at the wheel, I pull into a rest area and get a can. I’m then good for the next 200 miles or so.**

I drove semi OTR and local from Oct 2001 thru March 2021, and still do part time for a farmer.

I never have been a coffee or energy drink consumer. Quit soda pop in the 70’s (except if at a gathering and that’s all they got). Rarely drink tea.

The secret for me has been the ability to take 5, 10, or 15 minute power naps. I can get in the sleeper and be out in a couple minutes, (but set an alarm first, lol). Get up and be good for a couple hours at least. Getting out and checking the load and tires by trotting around the rig a couple of times can help too.

I don’t sit lowrider like the ‘cool’ drivers, I sit up straight, which seems to help as well.

I said what I said because that crap will shoot your pulse rate over the moon.

I do my best to never touch those damned things.

The paleo diet started a month before surgery as per doctors orders.

It helped a lot.

While in recovery and until my recent follow up, I was on low residue. I missed the paleo style and am getting back to it as I go through the current inventory of food.

Today we went to get some authentic German sausage from a guy we’ve known for many years.

He almost didn’t recognize me.

The sausage was wonderful as always.

" walking daily is excellent for health,"

Walking about 7k steps a day is correlated with longevity. It's unclear if that means walking will increase your life span. It may mean people who feel good will walk more. Anything more than 7k doesn't increase lifespan but it may have other benefits.

Walking has many benefits from mental health to sun exposure and Vitamin D. It definitely can alleviate depression or insomnia and apparently it's good for your bones.

"...so I don’t think he could consume 2000mg a day of that and live."

He didn't.

I use the Paleo Diet when I’m leaning out.

When maintaining, I’m paleo plus some potatoes and rice.

Bulking season is gone forever. Last bulk was 8 years ago.
I think I put on 2 pounds of muscle and 17 pounds of fat...

I go to a walking park just around the corner from me.

It’s called Sandy Hollow. The Battle of the Brandywine occurred there September 11th, 1777.

Cool. I do the same but I’ve switched to Starbucks Mocha Coffee in a can. Love the stuff, but it eventually catches up with me.

I seriously was concerned about having a heart attack, and I’m really stubborn and non risk averse. I’m well known to do crazy things without fear of harm...

Man, you’re making me want to take a trip to Edelweiss on the traffic circle.

Hang in there and keep feeling better. I have the feeling (and I’m writing this to remind me) that I would probably do well to follow the same health advice. I wish I could be 220 again.

25 billion and he hits the wall at age 78? He could not do any better? I know I would.

Genes dictate a lot. Steve Jobs became the richest man in the cemetery at a young age. I have a close relative who did EVERYTHING right, except get a colonoscopy. You guessed it, fatal colon cancer at 53.
