The point is fans at many schools take things way to seriously and do stupid things, especially at SEC schools.

Back in 2012 after Alabama beat LSU for the national title, a Bama fan teabagged a drunk passed out LSU fan at Crystals, putting his ball sack on the guy’s face, that is a little over top.

Some speculation that this season might be it for Saban.

I don’t think he cares for this new era of college football with the NILs. He left the Dolphins because he felt more comfortable coaching in college, but the NILs are making college football more and more like the NFL.

Just watch this to see how modern football has changed, for safety, to something almost like flag football. It was VICIOUS in the old days. Not saying better or worse, just different.

Another huge difference between the good years and the modern years is that tacklers knew how to tackle. The yahoos today just launch themselves at the ball carrier with no thought at all about wrapping them up and taking them down ... they just want to hit them to make them fall.

And their Go-Fund-Me account has raised over $160k to replace the goal posts and pay the fine as of yesterday afternoon.

He used his free speech to say something stupid in public. His employer fired him.
**********
So who gets to define what is stupid and exact punishment for legally permitted speech? The rich and powerful? America’s little guys need to be able to exercise lawful speech without losing their jobs at the whim of unelected people.

The fans aren't allowed to rush the field like that. In fact, the home team has to pay a fine (I think it was $100K).

Of course, to the admins of Univ of Tennessee, a win over Bama was probably worth $100K. LOL

He worked for a private employer. The conditions of his employment are between he and his employer; nobody else.

Yes the rich and powerful do aka their employers. It’s up to the individual to learn how to conduct himself in public.
If he can’t then he needs to work somewhere else.

If anyone should have been fined it’s the Ref’s. When was the last time you saw a football game (high school, college or pro) where the Ref’s had to stop the game because they didn’t know what down it was? That was some of the worst officiating (both sides) that I’ve ever seen.

These things go in cycles, but Alabama has had a unprecidented run in this age of college football, but Alabama is setup for a fall once Nick Saban leaves, however long that will be, whoever takes over for Saban is suicide in most cases.

After Bear Bryant, Gene Stallings was an excellent coach but in between Alabama had some real gems, I think it was Mike Price from Washington State who was hired and didn’t make it to the first game after getting caught with a prostitute.

As a Gator Fan it’s painful to admit, but Georgia is primed for a big run of success, Kirby Smart has one national title and could easily win another this year and he is young compared to Saban, Smart will be around for a very long time.

“I guess I had to much Bama in me”...

Look at the crowd when Bama is losing - they have no reason to go on living!

They don’t lose often but when they do it’s Armageddon for their fans, I remember when Auburn ran back the missed FG on the last play of the game to defeat Alabama, they was like a neutron bomb going off in the state of Alabama, this past Saturday was about the same.

I like Kirby too.

It looks to me like he's gained weight and in fact looks flabby/unhealthy.

I’m going to up the ante: I am glad she was struck and he was fired.
