The Tesla website says a recharge time of 15 minutes for 175 miles for the performance model 3. The high end model S will recharge to 200 miles in 15 minutes assuming access to the latest/greatest 250KWH charger is available and no wait times..
If low income is Section 8, there will never be an EV there.
Do you have to pay for the upgrades to the distribution system, or is that covered via tax dollars/write offs?
My car right now is 68% full and it estimates that I have 170 miles of range. I turned off the climate and it says 206. I think I get 4 miles per kilowatt with 64 kilowatts maximum. I think I have 40 kilowatts in my battery right now.
I am trying to be humble and not to convince other people to buy electric. I am sharing my personal experience with owning an electric car for over 3 years. It is quite pleasant. I personally like the OCD aspect of finding all the ways of getting free electricity. For instance I get to charge at work for 6 dollars a month. Except for that 6 dollars I haven’t paid for electric charging in 3 months. I don’t charge at home.
I drive to work, for work and some just running around and it amounts to about 1000 miles a month. I have had this car since September 2019 and it right now has 36361 miles. I live in North California and have driven to Portland 3 times, Los Angeles once and Bishop California. Charging is available at necessary distance intervals.
I actually don’t want too many people in electric cars. I think hybrids are the way to go. When everyone has an electric car they will have to charge at home most of the time. The congestion around public chargers will be unbearable.
Maybe the public transit buses will use it between stops!

Good catch - a big 'hit' on productivity...
IMHO, three walls stand in the way of EVs becoming truly popular:
1. Technology must improve the number of miles you can drive on a fill-up.
2. Battery technology must be improved so that an EV catching fire is rare. Self-igniting batteries should be banned.
3. The overall price must be reduced. Spending $75,000+ for a vehicle to get you from point A to point B is ridiculous.

I think most people would not share those OCD sentiments. I personally like the convenience of being able to fill up a tank of gas from thousands upon thousands of easily findable locations.

Meaning you have to suspend your trip for possibly hours while waiting for a recharge, an inconvenience that most people would not want to experience.

Just another reason why the government forcing everyone into electric cars is a terrible idea.
There were 2 guys in Colorado that were using electric Humvee and a F-150 in a youtube video. When one of them charged up it was .26 cents a kw. Even in Calif the price to produce electricity from the Diablo nuclear plant is .6 cents a kw but the state forces prices of up around .30 cents kw!!
4 gallons of gas has more energy density then entire battery pack of a electric F-150 truck.
