If you can stomach their racialist approach, scroll through their list and notice the number of times diversity is mentioned.
I live in the worst place to retire. Stay away.😝
Decades ago, I had taken early retirement and a year off before starting a new personal business. I could locate any place with a good and within an hour, airport.
So we bought a lot of books and magazines re where to live as part time retirees.
Back then, To have a high rating, it was having a liberal college in the medium size town, a museum, artist colony and good coffee shops. Summarizing, a medium progressive city with a liberal college.
I needed a good feeder airline or medium size airport to take advantage of my future consulting. She wanted a good hospital and medical staff. She planned to continue working.
At that time I was really into good fly fishing and a good west coast river/bay or Floriduh with access to coastal fishing was a priority.
She in her wisdom said that we would spend at least 3 if not 4 seasonal trips to visit future sites to see if we liked that area in non prime season.
I didn’t want to live in a progressive liberal area.
Winter and/or a hot summer ruled out many of our choices.
A friend had located in St. Augustine, and it was great during the winter, and we couldn’t stand the summer heat. A cousin had retired on the SW coast, and the heat and humidity was even worse.
Most locations in the great northwest had too much winter rain and or snow.
We had narrowed our search down to the Medford or Ashland, Oregone areas or the Brookings area. The liberals in Ashland and their liberal college ruled it out.
For some reason her arthritis really acted up in Medford.
We loved Brookings and politically would have been at home.
My RN wife said that we were too far away from good ER and standard health care. Also, their local airport was not very dependable.
So we stayed in N. California with the rest of the nuts!
My wife was correct re staying close to good health care.
I saw it when it came out.
Steaming pantload.
Insulting to those with even mediocre logical reasoning capabilities.
Why didn’t Harare make the list?
Oh most diverse best place in America.
For instance, my 99% white nearly crime free town in Connecticut gets points docked for diversity. Nearby Danbury gets a higher score and while it's mostly nice, you need to be careful where you park your car and there are certain Danbury neighborhoods you do not want to be near after dark.
I don't even care about the percentage of whites or non-whites in my area. I just want a safe place to live where my wife can take the dog out for a walk at night and not worry about getting mugged. I want to live in a place where it's not the end of the world if I forget to lock my car or even house doors at night. I also want to live in a place where there's no graffiti, trash and broken glass littering the streets, where there's no boarded up buildings or drug dealers hanging out on the corners.
