We may think we are free because the Constitution tells us so, but we are far from free.
The Deep State is in control and our politicians in the Swamp know this. There is no clear command and control mechanism or central brain as is evidenced by the general sloppiness of the Deep State's movements but that makes it almost impossible to kill.
It wasn't the Democrats who raided Mar-a-Lago. And it wasn't the Democrats who refused to prosecute Hillary for the Russia collusion narrative. It was the Establishment, the Deep State.
Of course, all this Deep State is the Beast might be erroneous speculation. But then it might not.
Perhaps the FBI doesn't care about our respect. Perhaps the FBI is telling us something with its unethical, unprofessional, and criminal behavior (i.e., they are telling us that we are not their boss and they don't care if we don't like it).

I suspect you are quite right. It’s behavior the last 30 years mimics that of previous secret police agencies of totalitarian or recently turned totalitarian governments that history shows were were used against political opponents and their own people.
I have a friend who is friends with an FBI agent. I have repeatedly told him say NOTHING about politics around this agent he will turn on you and blackmail you and your family in a heartbeat. He’s says this guy wouldn’t do that. I said you’ll find out the hard way. The FBI acts like mafia more than law enforcement.
My wife worked in healthcare for 20 years and an auditor told her a terrifying story it was either his younger brother or son endured at the hands of the saintly FBI/DOJ.
This guy was a young doctor who had just graduated med school and begin his career working in an established practice with several long time doctors. After he was there a few months he started noticing things in the billing notes that were not right from his notes and memory. The practice was billing Medicare for services they hadn’t provided or padding services supposedly rendered to Medicare patients.
This young doctor knew this was criminal and fraud and wrong and he did what normal people thought and have been told to do, he went to federal law enforcement—the FBI and reported what he had found. Was the FBI grateful? Did they thank him? NO! They pulled this young doctor into a room, brow beat him and told him you will wear wires, you will remove or copy documents and you will testify to anything we tell you about this practice or we will charge you as well. The young doctor was stunned thinking this can’t be happening, I do the right thing and now I am the FBI’s bitch to do and say anything they want or else I go to jail!
He wore wires and made copies of documents a few times and finally after six months of torment they wanted him to entrap certain other doctors in this practice whom he said were not doing these illegal activities. He said no and they threatened him again and he told them to go F*&K themselves and do what they had to do he was done doing their sleazy work and threw their paperwork on the desk and walked out. They didn’t prosecute him, but he did testify, but wouldn’t lie for them. Needless to say he despises the FBI and DOJ, says they are just as dirty and criminal as those they persecute and prosecute.
You may be right, But showing with long guns seems to be the basic procedure these days.

Seriously, folks, if the FBI starts harassing you for any reason the first thing you do is call an attorney.
We all know that a great deal of power brings out very ugly traits in some individuals. But imagine what it can do in a huge unaccountable national government bureaucracy whose job it is to catch criminals.
As you say, very much like the mafia...except, not only is it within the law, it IS the law.
He made a terrible mistake by not lawyering up before going to the FBI/DOJ. He assumed the government would actually follow the law and didn’t realize the government is a infested with thugs.
They very nearly destroyed this guy emotionally. They turned everything he had been taught about the rule of law on its head, doing the right thing and trusting your government to do the right thing. From what the guy relayed to my wife this young doctor nearly left the profession because of the way he was treated in the entire process. The FBI/DOJ behaves like common street gangs with it’s citizens and then gets their noses out of joint when the public says we don’t trust you or respect you. If you want trust and respect then stop acting like punks with badges and follow the rule of law and don’t consider the citizens you work for to all be your enemey!

The best advise is to never, ever talk to an agent of the state at any level for any reason at all other than to tell them to wait for your lawyer. No agent of the state is talking to you for YOUR benefit. They are NOT, your friend, unless you happen to be a member of their own little jackboot shining club.
The FBI really is the absolute bottom of the law-enforcement barrel. Worse than meter maids IMO.
