So you know that all the taxes and money you are paying that you expect to go into upkeep and maintenance ends up in someone’s pocket.
Such is what happens when Chicago does not spend money on infrastructure. Now Chicago will lobby Congress for money to fix what they should be fixing themselves.
This is how Democrat run cities, counties, and states operate.
It’s intentional. It’s working the way it’s supposed to.
The way Chicago is set up, they intentionally let the streets be flooded
“...Build-up of pressure....”

Storm Drains?
Maybe Chicago can send the excess to Jackson Mississippi.
Over the last six decades or so I’ve travelled thru Chitown several times, as fast as I could go. My first impression every time was “this places needs a good washdown.” guess they’re getting it? Quick prayer every time: please God, don’t make me stay here-——When I was getting out of school I had numerous job offers that would have taken me there: nope, thanx anyway, but nope. what else you got?
“Storm Drains?”
Heavy rainfall adds weight to the soil around drains and pipes, and that pressure can cause breaks, leaks, all manner of problems.
I wonder if the gangbangers do drive-by shootings in rowboats?
“——Chicago will lobby congress”-—sure they will but now they have to get in line behind Jackson, Miss who has first dibs on the dem potluck money. Chicago hasn’t been right since they shut down the stock yards.
Nothing in the article about bursting of fresh water lines.
Chicago apparently has some combined sewer/storm drains.
From the article:
Advising residents to “...disconnect downspouts from the sewer...”
That is verboten to have in the first place everywhere I know of.
But, stupid is as stupid does.
This probably explains the lousy accuracy during this last weekend’s shootings.
maybe it’ll wash the blood off the streets...
That’s a fact!! Ive actually seen a price of it myself.
I always thought they were pulling my leg.
Yellowstone visits Second City.
Maybe. For awhile Soldier Field looked like a royal flush.
He tried but it turns out Chicago is a floater.
“Chicago apparently has some combined sewer/storm drains.”
Yes, it does. Very old, too.
—” “...disconnect downspouts from the sewer...””
Connecting downspouts to the sanitary sewer used to be standard...way back when.
That was then, now they pump smoke through the sewers and if any smoke is seen coming from your gutters, you in a heap of trouble $$$.
The black geyser needed a substantial pump to move that much water that high or a very elevated storage point.
—”The way Chicago is set up, they intentionally let the streets be flooded”
About the sections of Chicago where the streets were raised about 100 years back and the second floor appears to be the first, with a usually dry mote???
