I have worked on various dry lakebeds. When the wind comes up, conditions can be very nasty. The transition from calm and clear to high wind and no visibility can be a matter of low single-digit minutes.

I am confused by Burning Man and do not understand the attraction. It seems to be a drug-fueled orgy. I think people are hoping for easy access to drugs and anonymous sex. Much like the image of Woodstock and the Sixties.
