This is very good news. The global economy would have suffered a lot if Germany had gone into a self=imposed recession for such a stupid reason.

Next time, don’t trust Putin.

A. it’s underwater

B. it’s a lot less dirty when it spills than a crude oil pipeline is.

This isn’t enough to keep Germany out of recession, just enough to keep them alive.

You’d think after WW2 the germs would understand the need for power.

Don’t know. I have to do something else now, so I suggest you go find the monitoring sites.

The French ones were protesting nukes, the Spanish ones were protesting LNG terminals and pipelines, and the German ones were protesting coal. Note - all this was about protesting mitigations of troubles with Russian nat gas pipelines.

Now just tell Ukraine to STOP shelling the powerplant there and everything will be better, at least somewhat...

“The plan underlines how deeply Moscow’s attack on Ukraine has scrambled politics in Europe, and particularly in Germany, which long enjoyed close economic relations with Russia and whose economy had grown highly dependent on Russian natural-gas supplies.”

Not quite...it was the idiotic ‘sanctions’. Anyway, glad they listed to Putin regarding their nuclear plants, at least.

—”Europe is in a drought and water levels are low. Will they have enough water flow to cool the reactors?”

I have seen a few articles on the water levels, They think it will work, but may NOT be sufficient for the coal barges to coal burning generators.

A very good point.

“The ministry for the economy and the environment, headed by Robert Habeck of the Green Party, commissioned an initial stress-test earlier this year, which found that the nuclear reactors wouldn’t help solve a potential energy crisis.”

Do nuclear reactors CONSUME as much power as they generate? If so, that would be news to me. If not, they really, really, need to get rid of Habeck, even if he does wear a tie and suit during the day (most Greens in the German government don’t).

And a lot of hydro from the mountain rivers.

Having already slit their wrists, they decided not to slash their throats too.

Well, that’s progress I guess.

‘It’s fine to have energy policies that simply make that energy more expensive since that really only bothers the little people. But if the situation actually means no heat or lights or brownouts, well that affects even the elite. Can’t have that. Bring back the nuke and coal plants immediately.

“Not just Europe... Just look out your window.”

I agree that Putin likely does look out for his interests in Europe - and Europeans are so stupid they buy into it.

However, in the US, FAR MORE DAMAGE is being done by Soros, with China trying to catch up to him.

Yuppers. And the passes are all still mined. Kinda makes you think when you’re on a train ferry going through the tunnels. The Swiss truly are cunning ... ahem ... fellows.

The Energiewende in Germany has been going on for what now, 15 years and multiples of billions of Euros spent and they still can’t keep the lights on. At some point someone is going to have deliver the unpleasant news that windmills and solar panels are a joke. It will be an unpleasant task.
