When Kim Went to see him and mentioned that her law license was still active in NM, I thought she was going to offer to represent him in appeals.

She said her bar card didn't have an expiration date.

I took this as meaning that she might not be back to practicing law but the bar card she had that ID'd her previously as a lawyer doesn't expire and she never got rid of it. She used it fraudulently to present herself as a lawyer and gain access to the prison.

Yeah, her unexpired license definitely got her in the door to see Jimmy and to have some privacy.

And technically she could have represented him. Practically, though, if that had been tried I expect that hell would’ve rained down on them considering her relationship with him during his crimes.

Went out with a whimper, IMO. Disappointing finale.

What did you expect?

I'm asking sincerely.

Saul has never been a violent character,so he wasn't going to go out in a blaze of glory like Walt. His weapon is the law, and he used it to first destroy the DA's case, then he used it save Kim and sacrifice himself. No one had the power to stop him from doing either.

Saul’s best weapon was his mouth.

“Saul’s best weapon was his mouth.”

That’s true, plus he was clever in thinking outside of the box. When he put an imposter in the defendant’s chair in court that time, and the witness identified him. And phonying up Chuck’s legal docs ... That was good.

Maybe something like the Breaking Bad barnburner ending. I just think the characters and story line were wasted once the Salamancas were gone. I expected more. The whole Jeffy/Carol Burnette story line was stupid and out of place. What was the time machine silliness? To me, the writers just mailed in the ending. Saul gets caught, convicted and goes to jail where his ex clients are. Are you telling me you couldn’t have mailed that story line in?

The road the prisoner transport bus was driving on is NM 337. The location was about 3 miles north of me. I saw the road sign about the prison and figured they were filming something but never thought it was BCS.

We’re re-watching the last episode again.

It’s good, but the last four episodes were disappointing — weak compared to all others., IMO.

We were wondering why Skylar wasn’t in the courtroom to support Marie.

Really good characters throughout all Better Call Saul and BCS, for sure.

Now we are watching Resident Alien just for kicks.

I am with you here.
For my taste the ending with his sentencing and him ending up in prison was just such a soft landing compared to the body of work of BB and BCS. The last ‘real’ BCS story line was when Kim decided to leave.
A far more compelling story would be that time frame from there until she files for divorce and ends up in Florida. Let’s assume they have no plans for any follow up series and the fate of Saul could be anything. I would have dug into their breakup, his turmoil to leave her or start fresh. He follows her to Florida where he gets mixed up with some shady characters. Maybe Kim’s new BF is an abuser. Saul is trying to help her, she wants none of it, but Saul knows what a POS her BF and his circle is. Maybe they are drug dealers and Saul even gets into some weird ass legal representation of that group to try and penetrate them to help Kim. She calls the cops on him (Saul) and he eventually leaves to start the BB life. Then when the Gene story starts, still bothered by her life choices, he goes back down to FL and in a series of events he ends up killing her abusive BF but in the process, the BFs peeps ends up kidnapping, and killing Saul. That would be a more appropriate ending than what we saw.
Such a straight toward milk toast ending to a brilliant run.
Regardless, I am grateful for the years of entertainment, it was a great run.

I was away last week and didn't get to watch the finale until last night. I agree with the assessment that the series slowed down a bit in the final four episodes, but the scene were Saul appeared to almost convince Marie that he was a victim was so well acted by everyone involved, it was worth the price of admission alone.

And there's never been another show with such consistently brilliant cinematography.
