Rhee Seahorn is nominated for an emmy—finally.
Wow, they just confirmed (to Odenkirk’s surprise) that it was 6 years between the divorce paper signing to the Florida phone call.
So the Gene time is 2013/2014.
It was Vince Gilligan’s girlfriend (wife?) Holly who put her hand on Rhee’s shoulder in the bus scene.
I didn’t believe he didn’t know that.
I've been through 100's of office birthday celebrations like this. It seems there is always one who organizes these things whereas most of the office wishes they'd just go the hell away. Thr writers and director nailed it.
The cinematography, editing and direction is genius, IMHO
The whole miserable office birthday scene hit so close to home, it made me long for a life of crime I’ve never had. It was so accurate I thought I recognized people I’ve worked with.
Okay, I don’t get it...remember the episode where Jimmy is sitting on a bench in the mall, on break from his Cinnabon job, and the two guys ‘make’ him as Saul Goodman? So he goes back to Albequerque? How does that fit in with the end of this last episode, where he flees after Carol Burnett calls the police on him? Are they saying that he got the vacuum cleaner salesman to ‘disappear’ him TWICE? And that he got the same job, in the same city? That makes no sense. What am I missing?

Jimmy hasn't been back to Albuquerque since the end of Breaking Bad. So far, that has been the only time he's used Ed's services. (The teaser for the finale hints he may call Ed again.)
All of the Gene scenes up until now have been in Nebraska.
Thanks for that Jonny…something still seems wrong with the timeline though
And Holly is the name of Walt and Skylar’s baby.
“...the two guys ‘make’ him as Saul Goodman? So he goes back to Albequerque? How does that fit in with the end of this last episode, where he flees after Carol Burnett calls the police on him? “
I don’t know if it’s supposed to fit, and maybe they’re not really connected. In the discussion time after they were saying that Gene just didn’t have to whack her after looking into her puppy-dog eyes.
While we were watching, there was an ad on TV that we didn’t understand. Maybe it was an actual ad for something else, or for the last episode next week.
There’s a close-up of a messed-up, maybe burned, car interior. The voice in the background seems to be mentioning that line he’d use when calling the vacuum guy — giving a specific part name.
WE know the actor who played the vacuum guy is dead, but for the series that isn’t an issue. So maybe Gene is calling that guy again.
From the trailer, it looks like it's in the same place they left it, with 6+ years of accumulated rust. Or it could have been burned.
It's in color ... So this could be the first image from the Gene timeline that's not in black & white.
But why would we need to see this car again? Ever?
You're right. That's Gene we hear calling Ed (RIP Robert Forster) asking for another extraction ... But that could be misleading. The call could be from a flashback.
What if they incorporate Robert Forster's death into the show? Scared Gene runs away from Carol Burnett, calls for extraction and a strange voice answers the phone. This person doesn't know what Gene is talking about. "A Hoover what--? Oh you must want the former owner. Sorry, he died."
“You’re right. That’s Gene we hear calling Ed”
Good. It sounded like Gene calling Ed, but I wasn’t sure.
I really like how they’re incorporating all three “eras” to pull them all together.
I made a mistake earlier when I said the Gene Scenes were set in 2013/2014. I was way off, so ignore that :)
The date on Saul and Kim's divorce papers was 2004 (the same year they were married). Jimmy and Kim wouldn't speak again until his phone call 6 years later, which would place the Gene Scenes in 2010.
The Better Call Saul story begins in 2002. We know this from the date on the check Jimmy has in the first episode.
The Breaking Bad story took place roughly between 2004/05 to 2006/07. So "Gene" has been working at the Cinnabon for about 3 to 4 years when he's spotted by Jeff in 2010.
So all of the recent black & white episodes with Gene, Jeff and Carol Burnett have been set in 2010.
Kim left New Mexico for Florida in 2004 and has apparently been there ever since. She probably would have stayed there had Jimmy/Gene not called her in 2010.
The call shook Kim. She immediately returned to New Mexico, where she confessed to anyone that will listen what she and Jimmy/Saul did to poor Howard back in 2004.
When she has her breakdown on the bus, she's at the airport, presumably on her way back to her bland life in Florida.
So the entire timeline for both shows (excluding flashbacks for certain characters) has been between 2002 and 2010.
