My BIL has lived where I do now since 1986. We'll be driving someplace, through open farmland or hills, and he'll say something like, George used to live on the corner there, till his house burned down.....must have been 30 years ago.
They noticed the name Hulagu Khan on the mailbox.
I do not believe that was a respect deal, as the Mongols had a thing about not spilling royal blood if I recall correctly. Which is strange considering how much blood they spilled overall, but I suppose us commoner blood don’t count.
It’s analogous to trying to draw a straight line a mile long with a two-inch ruler. :^) Give or take the occasional repopulation / ethnic cleansing.

That goes for most of the continent of Africa.
