“Those critters are just getting too comfy being around people...”
I’ve been there a couple of times and the bison are like other animals that still practice their behaviors they’ve had for a few thousand years. The park demands a 25 yard distance and recommends staying in your car to look at them. The animals no longer fear man and will even come in close contact at places like around Old Faithful Inn. But they are still children mentally and can change their minds rapidly and protect their turf and calves in a moments notice. And they are bigger than a volkswagen beetle and far more maneuverable. The woman got about 10 yards away when the animal turned. Hope she lives. But this type will go somewhere and try to get a picture of her putting her head in a zoo lion’s mouth. About the same result can be expected.

Not saying he wouldn't do it, but he happens to be in Spain.
I get new glasses next month.
I’ve got to do something about my reading skills. I thought headline said, “Biden gores man near Old Faithful...”.
Many years ago, I road from the west coast to the east coast on bicycle following the Bikecentennial Trail.
While in Yellowstone, there was a large herd of bison in the grass about 100 yards from the road. There were lines of cars stopped going both directions to look at the bison. I rode along side the cars and stopped on the shoulder of the road...took out my binoculars and was watching the bison.
All of a sudden, the bison started looking bigger in the binoculars and I realized they were stampeding towards the cars...I pulled my bike alongside a pickup truck and jumped in the bed of the truck. The whole herd ran across the road and kept going on the other side. You don’t realize how big they are until you see them up close...they are HUGE. And they are “nice” like cows you see in a field.
Indeed slow thinkers have the most scars.
Disney, in their movies, have promoted the fakery that animals have the same emotions and reason as man. Country boys know much better than this BS.
Some learn the hard way the fraud, like so many things Demon Disney promotes, the reality. Some may not be around to practice what they’ve learned.
The roads back open?
The boardwalks are for the management of the tourists, to keep them from walking into hazardous spots, like boiling mud pots and such. They do not mean that bison will keep their distance.
The key problem is the same in all these stories— because an animal shows no fear of people, people think they are harmless, even tame. Bears, bison, elk, you name it. If it’s wild it is not your friend, no matter how calm it looks.
and they were charged with CHILD ENDANGERMENT... right???
Yipee....me too.
Because of the SCOTUS decision?
You can’t roller skate In a buffalo herd.😜
Down at the Boardwalk Bison havin’ fun
Down at the Boardwalk don’t try an run
Down at the Boardwalk, Boardwalk

Well, idiots who leave their vehicles to get a closer look deserve what they get.
But if you’re out on a boardwalk and away from your vehicle, unless you keep your head on a swivel you might not have time to get back to your vehicle.
Not sure what the park can do about that other than hire more rangers and encourage people to keep a look out.
Yup. :-)

“I misread the title and saw “Biden” not “bison”. Not saying he wouldn’t do it, but he happens to be in Spain.”
In time for the running of the bulls?
Good one, Jay!
“...encourage people to keep a look out.”
Congratulations, you have solved the riddle and displayed a much higher IQ than the room temp people wishing to step in front of a bus to get that polaroid. The rangers aren’t going try to tell those 2200 pound missiles that can reach over 35 MPH with an attitude where to go. They just keep medics available for when the fools rush in. Bison have no fear and they are on top of the food chain in the park. (And they know it) Last time I was there one bumped our tour bus and made a dent and then crossed in front of the bus leisurely after it stopped like we weren’t even there. Leroy Brown impression.
