Same here. We had a great Scout Leader. He was big on community service, camping skills, fishing, all the typical classic woodcraft, first aid, and threw some physical fitness in there for good measure. Us boys thrived with that strong male leadership. (1970s-80s)
It was an early afternoon accident. Rural road. Unmarked crossing. No lights or bells. Just tried to beat the train I guess.
I would beet that there are MORE of such unmarked crossing all around the USA than the ones with the bars & lights.

On VR Ashland camera, you can see some stupid things... Ashland has street running... And people back out into trains and some idiot double parked and his pick up was hit...

You would be correct... Hillsborough County has a few unguarded roads without gates or lights... Just a stop sign and crossbucks..
