Today's entertainers are highly reminiscent of Ellsworth Toohey's collection of social saboteurs in The Fountainhead: talentless, crude, ugly, arrogant, condescending, deliberately promoted to kill all that is good and noble in the human spirit - but 100% mindlessly devoted to the collectivist cause de jour.

Ayn Rand saw this happen in the Soviet Union of the early Twenties, so the blueprint has existed for a long time.
