Comparing mid size car to full size. Price isn’t a factor in that regard. Frankly no one is making full size cars outside the luxury brands anymore.
I’ll take Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus over any vehicle these days.
Scotty Kilmer of YouTube will agree with me.
My main car is a 2015 Ford Focus hatchback. I bought it used in 2016, with just under 30,000 miles. It’s a 4 cylinder with a dual transmission.
The day after I bought it, I read online about the Focus and Fiesta model customers having a problem with their dual trannies, some were quite serious.
I cursed myself for not doing the research I should’ve done in the first place.
It wasn’t too bad, it didn’t shift real smooth >sometimes< .
So, I drove it until a couple years later, I received a letter from Ford concerning the defective transmissions. They requested that I take to the dealership where I bought it and their technicians would test it and determine if it was a bad one.
Well, I did just that and it WAS one of them. They then replaced the entire transmission FOR FREE because when I bought the vehicle, I had paid extra for the extended warranty.
There are times in my life when I think I have made more bad decisions than good, but that was a good one.🙂
I still have it, do the regular maintenance on it, drive it to Chicago a half dozen times a year, got about 59,000 miles on it, and the new transmission works just fine. I tell my friends to spend the extra, it’s worth it.
KIA engines are defective. On 4 cyl Sorentos they have a problem with excessive cylinder wear, starting from the 3rd cylinder. There are conflicting opinions why. Some say oil channels are poor, others blame cooling system.
