80 posts and I still don’t think anyone got it exactly.
It is about virtue, feeling that they have virtue and the “other side” does not. It is a secular religion—and the specific beliefs seem to change almost daily—as long as they “believe” the “respectable” people (the “experts”) they will be fine.
There are no set of facts that will convince them that they do not have virtue. That is why debating them is a total waste of time.
Yes, leftism is a religion. Also, to speak up against it is to risk ones economic future. Hence the doublethink
