Point taken; as a percentage of forces used, the VDV weren't that many, though. Also, I'd argue in retrospect that due to their structure the VDV, even with better training than your average contracti, was woefully undermanned in combat power. Take away the mechanization, and a VDV company has fewer dismounts (boots on the ground)than a US mech inf. platoon.
That's one of the things I find interesting. This whole affair has proven what a bad idea the Russian combat structure is. From the VDV TOE, to the use of their Btl Combat Groups, to their logs train, it's all been proven to be ineffective and poorly thought out; great on paper, terrible in application. All the way down to their cheap Chinese tires that can't handle the tempo of modern combat, the Russians have a lot to fix; if they can.
You say it like that and you completely dismiss the culpability of the West and the globalist Great Reset crowd. I would argue that they are just as guilty, if not more so, as Putin in all this.
Maybe he really is dying and thought it is now or never?
Canada said they are providing Excalibur shells. Depending on the version 25mi to 40mi range and 4m CEP.
