I was lucky enough to see Tangerine Dream in concert around 1975. To be honest, they came across better on LP. 3 guys sitting at gigantic synthesizers wasn’t that exciting. I did enjoy their music, though, especially their work on the James Caan film “Thief.” RIP Klaus.

“Initially read it as “Klaus Schwab”. Disappointing”.
Me, too. I got excited for a few seconds.

You were lucky. Tangerine Dream did some terrific music, “underwater sunlight” comes to mind for instance. Klaus did some great solo work too. Really sorry to see this.

I’ve still got my copies of Moondawn, Blackdance, Timewind, and Cyborg from back in the day. Only the Moondance is an origin green-label Brain, the others are later reissues or UK pressings.
His records sold surprisingly well in the 70s.

I never saw the Sorcerer. I heard it's supposed to be a cinematic masterpiece.
The movie Legend is NOT a masterpiece, although I actually still like it, but if you ever watched (heard) the European cut which has a symphony orchestra soundtrack, you would realize how amazingly fitting the Tangerine Dream sound track is for it. Nothing against the orchestra soundtrack, but Tangerine Dream did an amazing job creating a fantasy ambiance for this movie;

You don’t go to a TD concert for the stage show, at least you didn’t back in the 70s and 80s.

You brought it up before I could. SORCERER is one of my favorite underrated films.
Horrible title, though. Probably should have called NITRO, or something like that.

Ah, that would have been when Christopher Franke was with Tangerine Dream. (Basically Schulze replacement on drums & percussion and added a 2nd keyboard player & electronic sequencing. The 3rd keyboardist (and some vocals) Steve Schroyder came on board with Franke in 1970, beginning the long run with 3 keyboardists...)
